There is something so magical about celebrating fall in Hawai’i. Do you want to know what it is? The fact that it’s still warm and perfect weather for going to the beach, hiking your favorite trails or catching a meal on an outdoor patio.
That’s right friends, Hawai’i is eternal summer, which can be good or bad depending on your attitude.
If you’re like me and craving a little bit of traditional fall activities, you won’t want to miss…
Pumpkin Picking at Aloun Farms (O’ahu) – This is a great spot for stocking up on pumpkins and produce! Make sure to check the schedule ahead of time, because it has pretty strict hours of operation.
Fall Food & New Products Showcase (O’ahu) – This expo is a delicious event for the whole family, featuring over 200 vendors with food samplings and live demonstrations at cooking stations. Held at the Blaisdell Center Oct. 16-18.
Season’s Best Craft Fair 2015 (O’ahu) – I love a good craft show and this one does not disappoint. Over 250 vendors will be selling everything you need to kick off your holiday season the right way! There is a great variety of handcrafted items specific to Hawaii, so it’s great for family & friends on the mainland! If you don’t get your fill of the Blaisdell center for the Fall Food Festival, head down to the craft fair Oct. 23-25.
On 10/31 and 11/1, the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra will be performing The Nightmare Before Christmas and you can buy tickets here.
Halloween in Lahaina (for my Maui friends!) – Dubbed the Mardi Gras of the Pacific, Lahaina is home to the biggest Halloween celebration in the islands. Wear your best costume and check out all the events Lahaina Town and Harbor have to offer.
I have yet to find a good apple cider donut on this island, but you can’t miss a warm malasada from Leonard’s, a coconut turnover from Lihia or a snow puffy from Paala Kai!
Another great (anytime of the year) activity is a trip to the farmer’s market, where you are sure to find fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers and, my all time favorite, fresh local goods. Think: homemade jam, fresh jelly, peanut butters and more! A robust list of markets can be found here.
What is your favorite fall activity?
