Birthdays + The Holidays…A Conundrum

If anyone else has a birthday within the two week period before/after Christmas…this post is for you! My birthday is just slightly outside the two week window, but I always got annoyed when people would either 1. Give me something wrapped in leftover Christmas paper — UH UH. or say 2. Oh, this is for both holidays! I’m sorry, do you say that to people who are born in June? No, no you do not.
It didn’t happen too often for me, but poor Dane is born exactly one week before Christmas. It never fails that people either forget his birthday with the chaos of the holiday, can’t come to parties because they’ll be out of town with their own families or mix the two by gifting him something in Santa paper (come on – NO).
When we first met, I made a mental note in my mind to always make his day special and that no Christmas activities would happen on that day. No gingerbread house building, no ice skating, no caroling, no shopping – all birthday fun! Particularly no baking, unless of course, it was his cake. This year, he requested an ice cream cake after he saw them on display at Baskin-Robbins. We have been shying away from dairy in recent months, but he told me he couldn’t stop thinking about it and wanted a real treat! I’m used to making his cake, so when he told me this is what he wanted, I think I heard angel’s singing. #tooeasy
If you are one of those people who have more than holidays to celebrate this season, listen up! When I went to pick up Dane’s birthday cake, I learned that Baskin-Robbins is actually offering two delicious ice cream desserts this year that are perfect for any celebration. Dane’s birthday cake was a custom pizza made with the OREO® Cookies, chocolate ice cream and peppermint ice cream mixed together and topped with sprinkles. For the holidays, Baskin-Robbins is offering Peppermint & Winter OREO® Cookies Polar Pizza, which features a double fudge brownie crust with Peppermint ice cream, topped with Winter OREO® Cookie Pieces and drizzled with marshmallow and fudge topping. They’re also offering a Ganache
Poinsettia Cake, which is an elegant and decadent 9” round ice cream
cake topped with a poinsettia and Winter
OREO® Cookies. Both are fantastically festive and perfect for any and all partie!
We are hosting a big Christmas Day party this year, so I snagged one for our guests and had them personalize the top at no additional charge! Nothing says Christmas in Hawaii quite like cooling down with some ice cream cake, am I right?
The best part? You can order them both online, so that when you’re ready, you can just pop over to the store and grab your goods! Not only that, you can score $2.00 off both in store and online with the coupon below! #yourewelcome
While I was in the store, I got to sample their seasonal ice cream flavor, Peppermint Bark in the Dark — creamy chocolate ice cream with peppermint bark chunks. I wanted to snag a pint to share with Dane, but the store was out! Agh! I plan on heading back later this week to pick one up for our holiday festivities…or maybe just to indulge with a Christmas movie!
What are you enjoying for dessert this Christmas?
