Summer Beauty With Moroccanoil

With summer all but here (sorry to any of those looking at snow – I’ve been waking up to a real feel of 90), it’s about time to start thinking about how you’re going to switch up your beauty routine to meet the needs of your skin and hair. When Moroccanoil contacted me about trying out  their Fleur d’Oranger Collection, I was all in!

The Fleur d’Oranger Collection promises an uplifting and energizing orange blossom flower inspired fragrance that include shampoo, conditioner, shower milk, body buff, body soufflé and hand cream.

As soon as the package arrived, I was most excited to test out the body buff and body soufflé. Admittedly, I was most hesitant about the shampoo and conditioner. I’m kind of picky about my hair, because I like it to feel soft and silky when it’s dried and sometimes that doesn’t happen when I test out new products. Sometimes I get a mix of heavy, greasy or dry and brittle. That said – I’ve tested everything over the span of 10 days and am excited to give you feedback!

Let’s start with what I loved:

Moroccanoil_HandCream

Hand Cream Fleur d’Oranger – Moroccanoil Body™ Hand Cream Fleur D’Oranger is a luxurious, concentrated hand cream made with the natural gifts of argan oil and avocado oil along with cocoa, shea and mango butters to help repair dry hands. Its weightless formula absorbs quickly to protect hands and leave them soft and supple. Delicately fragranced with an orange blossom scent, this is a luxurious upgrade to your regular hand lotion and is completely Paraben-free. Now, let me be honest – I’m typically not a hand cream kind of gal. I use an all over body moisturizing lotion after I shower and usually call it good, and I recognize it’s not good, but…I’m also kind of lazy. Plus, any type of overpowering scent just won’t work, because in the classroom I don’t need people being like…what the heck is that smell?! So the first time I used the hand cream I was in my home office. The scent is not nearly as orange-y as I had anticipated and is truly more of a natural, shea scent. It goes on SO SMOOTHLY and, just like the description states, absorbs really quickly so you can get back to work/play/chores/using your phone! I was amazed. One thing I also loved is that the scent didn’t linger. I could smell it on my hands for about five minutes initially and then it faded, but my hands stayed smooth. This product has become a purse staple and is a total winner! I only took off one star, because the tube is kind of small and I see myself using it up relatively quickly.

Moroccanoil_BodyBuff

Body Buff Fleur d’Oranger – Made with naturally exfoliating orange peel, Moroccanoil® Body Buff Fleur d’Oranger is an energizing, daily-use body scrub that gently polishes away dead skin cells to immediately transform your skin’s texture. The added benefits of argan oil blended with Vitamin E and nourishing avocado, grape seed, safflower, sesame and sweet almond oils rejuvenate skin with intense moisture. I was initially the most excited about this product and – I was right on target with it! A combination of constantly being outside running or at the beach often leaves a lot of dirt and sweat build up in my pores all over my body. I have been on the hunt for something that would exfoliate my body without wreaking havoc on my skin and I think I’ve found it. Not to mention – the orange scent is a great pick-me-up that opened up my sinuses in the shower, but quickly faded and wasn’t overpowering. Double points for that!

And now, what I wasn’t crazy about…

Moroccanoil Fleur d’Oranger Collection

Shower Milk Fleur d’Oranger – A moisturizing shower experience enriched with argan oil that hydrates as it cleanses, Moroccanoil Body™ Shower Milk Fleur D’Oranger leaves skin refreshed and revitalized. There’s nothing I don’t love about feeling refreshed and revitalized, but oh my heck – the smell of this product made me gag. I’m not quite sure what happened but the “delicate fragrance of orange blossom” did not work for me here, which is weird because nearly every product has that same scent description. It was incredibly overpowering and almost smelled musky when I used it, not light and citrusy like some of the other products. Because it’s a product you apply in the shower, the combination of hot water, steam and the scent sent me over the edge. Maybe others would find it enjoyable, but the scent lingered and I decided almost immediately that regardless of how it made my skin feel, I wouldn’t be able to use it again.

Rating: 1/5 stars

Body Soufflé Fleur d’Oranger – A lightweight whip of argan oil and shea butter, Morccanoil® Body Soufflé Fleur d’Oranger penetrates quickly and deeply for intense skin hydration, delivering immediate smoothness and instant gratification for the senses. I’ll be honest – I feel the same way about the smell of this as I do of the Shower Milk. There’s an almost musky undertone in it that I can’t quite get down with, which is the reason it’s on this list. Without that scent, this product would get a higher rating. The soufflé is INCREDIBLY lightweight and goes on like you might imagine whipped cream would (if you put whipped cream on your body…no judgement!), and soaks up almost immediately. It’s great for right after the shower and leave your skin feeling silky (like the hand cream!), but the scent sticks around and it’s a total deal breaker for me 🙁

No decision has been made yet:

Moisture & Shine Shampoo Fleur d’Oranger – Moroccanoil Body™ Moisture & Shine Shampoo Fleur d’Oranger is an everyday shampoo that gently cleanses as it hydrates. Antioxidant-rich argan oil and replenishing vitamins help provide immediate hydration and shine, while coconut oil helps lock in moisture to leave hair feeling sleek and nourished.

Moisture & Shine Conditioner Fleur d’Oranger – Moroccanoil Body™ Moisture & Shine Conditioner Fleur d’Oranger is an everyday hydrating conditioner. Antioxidant-rich argan oil, replenishing vitamins and moisturizing shea butter help provide immediate hydration and shine, while coconut oil helps lock in moisture to leave hair feeling sleek and nourished.

The smell on both of these is exactly the same as the Shower Milk and Body Soufflé, so it doesn’t get winning points for scent, BUT! It seriously leaves my hair feeling so silky smooth and soft that I can’t make a firm decision on it yet. I gave it the ultimate test (at least for the conditioner) and hopped into the shower with knotted, braided hair post-run (it’s a big rat’s nest for anyone who can’t quite grasp that visual) and I hopped out of the shower not only with smooth hair, but with minimal knotting. I was amazed! It is VERY RARE that I find a shampoo and conditioner duo that can wrangle this mane with ease, so I can’t rule this combo out yet based solely on scent. It’s also important to note that the scent doesn’t linger like it did with the others, but I also use a leave-in conditioner that could mask it even if the smell was more present. Sidenote: can you tell I get hung up on how things smell?

Rating: I’m not sure yet! 1/5 on scent, but 4/5 on performance

Overall – I would say the Fleur d’Oranger Collection includes some definite beauty wins!

I love Moroccanoil, it was interesting to read about the new products, and your like and dislikes! I still use the original hair oil on the ends of my hair, and their hairspray has always been good to me in the humidity! Now I just want to smell this stuff.

My hair would be nothing without Moroccanoil’s leave in treatment and dry shampoo, it’s seriously the best! The body souffle sounds fantastic.

Okay I’m right there with you…I LOVE how soft this makes my hair, but I hate that my hair then smells like that all day.
