Our Weekend + Best Of Pinterest

Happy Monday!

I wasn’t looking forward to today at all, to be honest. Dane and I had three full days off together this weekend and we took full advantage. There was a lot of sun, fun, food and The People vs. OJ Simpson.

I can honestly say that a television series hasn’t gripped me quite like The People vs. OJ in a really long time. I mean, I like certain shows I’ve watched but we legitimately binged for 7 straight hours one night and I couldn’t get enough. We woke up early the next day just to finish it! I should preface all of this by saying that I’m truly fascinated by crime and criminals, but I truly think that anyone who was ever captivated by the man in the White Bronco should give this series a whirl. I was honestly a little sad when it was over like…WOW! What will I watch now?!

We tested out drinks at one of Waikiki’s newest hotels, The Laylow, on Friday night. It was so cute and the drinks were really, really tasty. We enjoyed that their craft cocktails weren’t the usual mai tai fare and they switched things up a bit with off-the-wall ingredients. Our favorite was the Patron Coffee Martini with coconut foam.

For Easter we headed to our friend’s beach house and enjoyed a low key brunch with my bird’s nest cake for dessert. It was 100% inspired by Pinterest and I was really impressed with how it all came together. I only wish I would have had a fake bird to place on top to bring it all together. Oh well…next year 😉

And speaking of Pinterest…I’ve been on a total article reading bender on that site. Anyone else? I usually pin things and I’m like, oh I’ll get to that some day. But not recently! Recently, I find the pin, pin it, then read. I don’t know what has come over, but here’s the good stuff:

Spiralized Beet Salad

The One Thing You Should Do In Every State

Stuffed Sweet Potatoes with Chickpeas, Asparagus and Arugula

How Often To Post On Social Media

How was your weekend? Who else is kind of nursing a fun hangover?

  • You should have thrown a Peep in that nest! Ha! I don’t even like Peeps, but we went to a brunch over the weekend, and they were used as decorations everywhere. To fill jars, inside flower vases, cake toppers….I was impressed! This sounds like a great weekend! And I love pictures of the dogs on the beach 🙂

Oh my gosh! It’s really funny you say that because my mom said the same thing. I’m typically in the “the best way to eat Peeps is to throw them in the garbage” camp, but I really like them as decor. I wish I would have thought of it sooner!!

  • Jen

I love that cake! It turned out so great. 🙂 You are talented my friend.

    • Kait

Aww — thank you so much! I really liked it too.

  • Those stuffed sweet potatoes are calling my name!

    • Kait

      That’s exactly how I felt!

  • I have so many things I want to say. 🙂 #1 – You and Dane are picture perfect in that B & W, and I loooooove your K necklace! #2 – I’m scared to dive into anything related to OJ because I’ve always been super fascinated by that story. I would get sucked in SO FAST and feel like I have no time for that! Ha! We just finished 13 Reasons Why and need a break from binge watching anything else right now. #3 – Your suit in the pic of you running with the dogs is SO CUTE on you! I don’t feel like many people could pull off that style top, but you totally rock it. Did Dane take that pic?! If so, good job Dane! It’s a good one!

    • Kait

I love your comments! Yes, he totally took that photo! He’s pretty good 😉 The K necklace is from Anthropologie and they have every letter – it’s relatively inexpensive and pretty much my favorite necklace he has ever gotten me 🙂 You would get sucked into OJ SO FAST. Seriously. I was shocked by how much I couldn’t stop. SEVEN HOURS ERICA. I will never get that time back. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on 13 Reasons Why as a parent. I liked the book much better, but I have some unpopular commentary on the plot as a whole. Hope you are having the best week! And happy one to Sadie!! XO
