5 On Friday

Hey Hey, Friday!

Let’s just hop right to it, because we’ve got a lot of ground to cover + I’m ready for the weekend!

First up – my Jalapeño Limeade Cocktail went live last week over on SoFabFood, so be sure to hop over and check it out. Equal parts sweet, sour and spicy – it’s a delicious combo for a craft cocktail!

When my mom retired last December, she was kind of like..okay what do I do now?! She had been practicing yoga for a long time, so she decided to become certified. One thing led to another and she is now running her own classes in our hometown. She had her first “pop up” this week and 12 people showed up. Folks, I’m from an exceptionally small town so for that many people to come out and get their sweat on for something that’s new and different just makes my heart swell. I’m so proud of you, ma!

We said farewell to some dear island friends yesterday and it was so bittersweet. I know they are off to new and exciting adventures, but I couldn’t help feeling sad knowing that they aren’t just a drive away anymore. This photo was taken at her baby shower over a year ago + now she has an almost one year old little babe. Time flies!

I’m a little bit in a content rut – so tell me, what would you like to see more of around here? Recipes? Dogs? Travel? Cocktails? A special request of a different variety? I’ll be sure to mark it all down to hopefully get the creative juices pumping! I don’t know if it’s summer, feeling a bit overwhelmed in my personal life OR WHAT – but I just can’t seem to get cranking here like I usually do. So help a girl out!

Our 4th of July was probably the least patriotic one we’ve had in a long time and it kind of made me sad. Dane and I spent it together floating in Waikiki before heading to the Army base for fireworks. It was the first time in a long time for us that there was no fanfare, party or parade. Is that weird? Maybe it’s because the holiday fell mid-week so we were all carrying a little bit of dread heading back into work the next day. Who knows! Either way, in true Hanson style, we made our own party. Special thanks to Instagram stories for making this awesome shot possible, HA!

Isn’t it crazy as adults how incredibly protective we are about our parents?! We want them to be so happy, so I totally understand your pride and joy for your mom on her new adventure! That is so great. Good for her! Content-wise, I would consider maybe doing something related to blogging? You are SO savvy with the ins and outs of blogging and social media, and I think your readers could learn from you as much as I have.
