A weekend with no plans is kind of like a big blank canvas that offers so much potential and you can smear whatever color paint on there you like…or none at all. Whatever you’re in to.
We smeared some paint this weekend.
Dane and I started the Insanity workouts last week and for the first time in my life I am at a loss on words for the relationship I have with that workout. A writer without words…sometimes that happens, I suppose. I think love/hate is the most precise, because I love that I’m actually sticking to it, but hate that as soon as I open my eyes in the morning my legs are frozen and don’t want to move. Some couples go out to dinner on date night. Not us, you can find us bonding with Sean T. and company getting our sweat on.
In any case, by the time Friday rolled around, sitting at home cooking dinner and watching a movie after another intense workout sounded like the perfect idea.
Special thanks to Dane for both taking pictures of all our activities, or else I’d have nothing to share with you fine people, and indulging my love of Instagram. #hesakeeper |
In addition to killing ourselves with a slow and painful death via Insanity, we’ve also been slowly working out junk from our diets. See: Clean Eating. It’s hard, especially coupled with my gluten allergy, but hopefully the results pay off in the long run. Emphasis on hopefully.
Saturday we woke up, treated ourselves to Pure Cardio and decided we were really going to treat ourselves. Insert: The Mililani Eat the Street Food Truck Roundup. HELLO DEEP FRIED EVERYTHING!
While I can’t eat any of this goodness, it was really fun to see the different types of food, and Dane got a cheat day. #winwin
Ohhh, this was a big cupcake truck (did I mention these are, like, luxury food trucks? Some even had TVs!) and those big balls on the top? Chocolate cupcakes with Reese’s puffs and pieces held together by marshmallow. #heaven
All of this amazing-ness and what do I get?
Corn.
The scariest photo brought to you by the wind and my awkward posing. You’re welcome. |
Dane enjoyed a lamb gyro from a luxury meat truck and because I was four inches shy of becoming a hangry monster, we headed home for some food I could actually eat. And by this I mean, we got home and walked across the street to MonkeyPod Kitchen for happy hour. Let’s just talk about how happy hour isn’t happy when drinks are still expensive and food service is slow, but it’s Hawaii. #nocomplaints
We rang in Sunday with a lazy morning, more Sean T., and getting our minds right for the week with some pool time. How was your weekend?
