When most people hear about a hurricane, they are sure to stock up on eggs, milk and bread. When Dane and I hear about a hurricane, we make sure the house is stocked with wine, rum and Twizzlers. We also set up shop on the beach to make sure we soak up every last bit of sunshine and good surfing waves.

You are also sure to bring along books and all your favorite snacks. What beach day is complete without that stuff? Not a good one, that’s what.

All in all, we’re ready for you, Hurricane Flossie.

The rest of our weekend was spent enjoying time with friends, snorkeling and cooking out on the beach and me nursing one hellacious sinus infection/flu combo. I mean, we’re talking rubbing Vick’s on my chest and barely breathing out of only one nostril type of deal. Sexy, I know.

Rewinding back to Thursday, I was enjoying beach time with Michelle and came home to the most amazing surprise in the world. Unbeknownst to me, Dane decided he couldn’t imagine not seeing my face this year on Christmas because he will be deployed. Before I could see the actual surprise, he uploaded this photo on Instagram, because he knows I’m always checking my phone.

Christmas carols played while I opened a brand new book I’ve been wanting and A FREAKING iPAD!!!! Yes, that deserves caps lock and exclamation points. Not to mention the most adorable card. I love that man and being without him for the next year is going to be harder than I care to write about here and now.
