Star Spangled Sugar Cookies

Eat, Food · July 18, 2013 · 3 Comments

I love any excuse to get patriotic–why limit it to several designated holidays per year? These sugar cookies are AMAZING. Seriously, it’s my mom’s recipe and Dane and I can devour a batch in a day. Not kidding. Enjoy!

You Will Need:
3/4 cup shortening or butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2.5 cups flour (I use Cup4Cup)
1 t. baking powder
1. Mix these ingredients together.
2. Set dough in the refrigerator and let chill for 1 hour.
3. Roll flat on a floured surface with a rolling pin and use your favorite cookie cutters.
**I like stars and dog shapes. Go figure.
4. Top with sprinkles and bake at 400 degrees for 6-8 minutes.
