Plastic Bags & Party Favors–DIY Fun!

Beauty · November 14, 2013 · 1 Comment

With the holidays just around the corner, everyone is in the festive mood and parties are marked on every weekend from now until January. These tips for DIY presents using plastic bags are not only extremely easy, they are thoughtful hostess gift ideas! Let’s be honest, nothing goes with a bottle of wine quite like some festive-ly wrapped baked goods, am I right?!

For a person who is choosing plastic over paper for its durability or strength, there is more that can be done with a plastic bag than what might initially meet the eye. Plastic bags can be used in several situations and they are perfect for a party. Here are some party ideas to make use of those fabulous plastic bags.

Choose the Favor, Then Choose the Bag Size

Party favors are the kinds of things that just need to be dressed up a little. Something as simple as a clear cello plastic bag can be exactly what a favor needs. Simply choose the favor that will go inside the bag, and then choose the size of the bag that will best suit the size and shape of the favor item. For the most part, clear cello bags fit nicely around differently shaped items, so shape is not often a concern when wrapping with cello bags.

Wrap a Special Home-Baked Treat

Party favors do not need to be expensive or store-bought. For a person who is either looking to save a few dollars, or for a person that is naturally a good baker, baking a homemade dessert item is an awesome way to show party guests how much they are loved. Simply bake the treat, let the treat cool completely, and then wrap the treat in a pretty bag. Tie a ribbon or a bow, and there it is- the perfect (and most delicious) party favor!

Handmade Soaps in Plastic Bags

Handmade soaps are a lot of fun to make, and with a pretty patterned plastic bag, any soap can be turned into a special soap. Don’t know how to make an awesome bar of soap? Not to worry, because even the most jagged-edged homemade soaps can look good with the right plastic bag. With some raffia to tie a bow at the top, and a little handmade card, soap-in-a-bag can go off without a hitch.

Plastic Shopping Bags for Home Parties

There are home parties happening all over North America, and those are the kinds of businesses that could most definitely make use of plastic shopping bags. The sizes and styles of plastic shopping bags are truly unlimited, so a person really has their choices opened up to them. For smaller items, such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and other types of jewelry, polyethylene-poly bags would probably be the best choice. The style with the zipper lock is the safest bet so that slippery jewelry will not fall out of the bag. As an alternative to a clear plastic bag, shopping bags with handles can work well, for larger items. This style of bag can be purchased in an array of colors and some have children’s characters designed on the sides, which are great for birthday parties. Party favors can be a lot of fun to give, and now they can be a lot more fun to wrap. Get creative with your wrapping, and see how much more beautiful and economical gift giving can truly be.
