Calling all my baking fiends! Have you been looking for the perfect buttercream frosting? I had been and all of my reactions had been the same–too sweet, too stiff, too gooey, too buttery. It was the Goldilocks of baking for me. Thankfully, I’ve found my “just right” and after having some friends sample it–they agree. Two thumbs up on all accounts and trust me, you’ll never find anything easier!
*You will need a stand-up mixer, such as a Kitchen-Aid. I’ve never attempted it, but I cannot imagine making this with something different. Hand mixing is out of the question.
Ingredients:
–1 cup Crisco (I used the butter variety)
–2 pounds powdered sugar (1 bag)
–1/2 cup milk
–2 tsp. vanilla (Madagascar is my favorite!)
1. Start by mixing the Crisco and the vanilla on low until fully combined.
2. Start adding in the powdered sugar 1 cup at a time, starting on low and increasing speed gradually.
3. If your mixer begins sticking or showing trouble mixing, add in milk.
And that’s it! Prepare yourself for a sugar coma–a sugar coma that’s totally worth it, of course! This frosting crusts, so it’s perfect for decorating, but equally delicious for filling 🙂 Enjoy!
