DIY weekend and ball-in’ on a budget

Life, Lifestyle · June 16, 2014 · 10 Comments

happy Monday, everyone! the last two weeks at work have been crazy stressful and by Friday I’ve been A BEAR–a really scary version of myself. poor Dane. so, this week I’m jumping into Monday with a positive attitude. good? good.

this weekend was go-go-go and there was little time for resting or recuperating, which made Sunday the perfect day for sitting on the beach for 5 straight hours–excellent. but let’s go back to Friday when Dane and I attended the Army’s Birthday Ball. we had such a great time getting dressed up and heading out for a night in downtown Honolulu.

and while it was absolutely awesome to get dressed up–typically these events don’t come cheaply, which is why I tried to save as much as possible. hair and nails done by me, purse c/o my senior prom, shoes from Ross, and my dress—Rent The Runway!
now, here’s some full disclosure on RTR–I’m not sure I’d ever rent from there again. My dress arrived smelling of body odor, with a full rip up the side. I was pretty ticked and, while their customer service was pretty great, the headache was really not worth it.

and the DIY part of our weekend? this handy bathroom organizer and a new coffee table! Dane binging on Pinterest is probably the greatest thing ever.

the best part of making this coffee table was the champagne we drank while dry painting

in between ballin’ and DIY’n we managed to sneak in a food truck round-up (see: deep fried everything) and beach time with friends.

how was your weekend?
