ohhhhkay, so I figured since there is simply no way to put one amazing wedding day into one solitary blog post, i’d break it up a little. kapeesh? special shout out to helene for the good idea and if you’re not really into weddings or not really into my wedding–sorry in advance!
so since my dress was probably one of my top ten favorite things, let’s start there! for starters, I got my dress two weeks after we got engaged on a total whim. I think my mom and I both had visions of going to a big bridal showcase somewhere and trying on thousands of dresses a la Say Yes To The Dress. Nope, one day my mom and I were looking at the newspaper and saw there was a trunk sale at the same place I bought both my prom dresses, which I had SUCH a great experience there, so it was a no-brainer. I even said to my mom, “I’m definitely not buying a dress today, let’s just go look.”
I guess those were my famous last words. It was the first dress I tried on.
I paired it with a cathedral-length 8 foot veil, which I absolutely never wanted to take off. I had removable arm straps to create a more romantic look for the church and more fun look for the reception.
At my final fitting!
Everything about my dress was so me and the way it fit was perfect–after the slight ripping altercation, of course 😉 It was a handmade full lace mermaid shaped gown with buttons down the back and though it looks white in this, I assure you–it was more ivory in person. And if I’m being totally candid, it was actually the very first dress I tried on! I did try on several more after it, but kept comparing all the others. That’s how I knew this was a winner. I also don’t believe in spending lots of money on a piece you will only wear for one day, so rest assured, the 60% markdown on this puppy made me a happy camper!
Keep in mind we haven’t even gotten a sneak peek of our professional photos yet, so these are all what guests snapped for us 🙂
