Bet you guys thought I was done with wedding posts, right? WRONG! I loved every single moment of our wedding and for me, posting about it will never get old. One thing that Dane and I had the most fun with was our wedding registry. Deciding what to register for was a huge process, but that’s not where it starts. First, decide what types of items you need. Then, think about the proximity of your wedding to the guests in attendance. For example, you don’t want to register at a trendy boutique in your hometown if no one from the wedding can access that store either in person or online. Make sense?? Because Dane and I live in Hawaii, we knew we wanted stores that offered free shipping, a variety of items needed and availability across the U.S. Fantastic registry completion initiatives are an added bonus! We wound up registering with Williams-Sonoma, Crate & Barrel and Macy’s. For us, kitchen essentials were a must-have and topped our list. We had a variety of items that were mish-mashed together from our previous single-dom—read: this was not acceptable for starting a house when we had the opportunity for things that matched 🙂 Before we even went into the stores, I took time to explain to Dane the importance of matching dishware. I think he was more grateful for the ice cream 😉
The day we went into store was SO EXCITING. It was our first registry experience and I was chomping at the bit to start scanning! If I’m being completely honest, I left the store feeling
more overwhelmed than anything else. We scanned exactly one item and it was dish towels—do you get more basic? When we got home, I made a plan to organize and it helped me tremendously! Hopefully, if you’re a bride to be, it will help you, too 🙂

5 Tips For Making A Wedding Registry
1. Do we need this?
Register for what you want, but also for what you need. It is SO easy to go hog-wild with that scanner. It’s powerful!! Make sure you throw in a couple things you would never purchase for yourself, but don’t miss the necessities like dishwater and silverware!
2. How much does it cost?
Make sure you hit all ranges in prices! Not all of your guests will be spending the same amount of money–make sure there is something for everyone!
3. What is the store’s return policy?
Make sure you pick stores that offer reasonable exchange/return periods! You might think “But I picked all this out myself!” Shockingly, you may change your mind 😉
4. When was the last time we updated this thing?
Update your registry often! Figure out that you don’t quite need that setting for 20 after you’ve seen how much space a setting for 12 takes up in your cabinets? Get rid of those other 8 to prevent yourself the hassle of returns!
5. Can we get a gift card?
Don’t be afraid of gift cards! Sometimes gift cards seem crass–wedding registries is not one of those times! You will thank me later on this one 😉
I hope this helps at least one reader who is starting from wedding registry scratch! Any questions? Just ask!
