hi everyone!
there used to be a great link-up on monday with the one and only sami and sometimes I really miss it! hint hint, sami 🙂
In any case, our weekend was a total whirlwind. I think we actually got some downtime on sunday and that was only because I felt sick all day long. I’m blaming bad chicken on saturday night.
but anyway, let’s go back to friday. friday I blogged about a sweet angel dog named mikey. mikey’s humans have since given mikey to his new foster home and he could not be happier. they’ve set up a special area for him in their house with a giant fluffy bed, new toys and delicious treats. not to mention a child who claims he is her “BFF”. when I was there on sunday, she laid beside him the entire time; it completely melted my heart. SO STINKING SWEET!
On Friday, Taylor also blogged about Mikey and her blog sent traffic to his fundraising page LIKE CRAZY! I am forever indebted to fellow crazy dog ladies whose hearts go out to dogs in need. Mikey’s just one of hundreds of dogs who are in need, but I love that so many of you have reached out to help.
We have increased Mikey’s fundraising goal, as he is in a bit worse shape than we had anticipated. His first doctor’s appointment with the orthopedic surgeon is on Wednesday so we’re all crossing our paws fingers for good news!

Saturday I had the opportunity to dress up as Anna from Frozen and make the day of about 150+ little children at a Christmas party. The costume was a child’s size 7 from the Disney store and sucked me in like a sausage casing, I was sweating like mad and I was so thirsty I could barely swallow, but oh mylanta–the look of pure joy on the faces of children made everything so worth it. Beyond worth it, honestly.
You want to know what else is awesome? That said Christmas party included fresh snow. Yes, snow in Hawaii. I’m just as shocked as you are.
Saturday night, Dane and I grilled out and watched Pearl Harbor. This is the part where the story turns to “we laid on the couch watching Pearl Harbor documentaries”. Because…that’s what happened. It’s hard to believe yesterday marked the 73rd anniversary of the surprise attacks on Pearl Harbor here on Oahu. I am so fortunate to have been able to visit the USS Arizona (several dozen times) during our time here.
