Dane and I spent an amazing weekend celebrating my birthday, because what’s a birthday without celebrating it for an entire weekend?! Not a good birthday, that’s what 😉 Friday began with Dane coming home from working and surprising me with flowers and a cake. Aww! But with that cake came a surprise FaceTime with Sarah and Casey singing “Happy Birthday”! It was a great surprise and completely unexpected. After all, I wasn’t really anticipating starting the celebrations so soon. Saturday we woke up, grabbed some acai bowls from my favorite place and relaxed. Mid-morning Dane told me that we had dinner reservations at 7PM and I would need to wear a fancy dress. He was required to wear pants and a sport coat, so I KNEW it had to be good, but I had not even a clue of just how good.
What followed absolutely blew my mind. Dane had arranged for a private 21-course dinner made especially for us at Vintage Cave in Honolulu. HOLY FREAKING AMAZING! It was hands down the coolest experience I have ever had. I had never even heard of this prestigious private club and restaurant before. It’s located in the bottom level of Ala Moana and has a private entrance. From the outside, it looks like just a weird, oddly placed door, but stepping inside is like stepping into an opulent new world. Vintage Cave is decorated with original artwork (including Pablo Picasso pieces!) and vintage crystal chandeliers. I wish this was an experience I could deliver through the internet, because it was THAT GOOD. Each and every course was customized for our palates (based on a pre-dinner survey Dane had filled out) and our names were even on our personalized menus. It was start-to-finish one of the coolest dinners we have ever had! I’ll let the pictures do the talking – I tried to take as many as possible!
Our 21-Course Dinner At Vintage Cave In Honolulu, Hawaii
I don’t even think these are all the photos, but my mouth is watering all over again so I’m going to stop there! And of course, they are all out of order, but you get the idea. For all my Hawaii friends, it’s definitely a place to consider for any special occasion. When making your reservation, you do need to give them a credit card to hold your place and the experience is definitely an investment, but it’s well worth it for such a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
