Monday Mashup

Beauty · February 9, 2015 · 6 Comments

Man, another weekend gone and I feel like this week is going to fly by. As I was thinking about things this weekend, I realized that we only have 6 months left here in Hawaii. It’s crazy to think that we are closing this chapter of our lives and moving onto the next thing. Hawaii hasn’t been our favorite place, but we are determined to make the most of the rest of our time here. I think it’s much easier to do that when you can see a light at the end of the tunnel 😉

We spent our weekend relaxing with each other on the beach and learning a new card game from our neighbors called Head & Foot. Have you ever played? It’s an insanely intense game of 26 cards and 2 teams (you need at least 4 people to play). If the rules weren’t complicated, I would spell them out here for you. But! I’m warning any of you now, that if you ever come to visit I will force you to play while we drink festive cocktails. Fair warning: You will become addicted like I am, seeking out any fellow cardsharks to swagger up to a table.

This weekend also had me stumbling across this piece from a doctor regarding vaccines. I’m about to step up on my soapbox here, but if you or your child have not been vaccinated, I want to hear WHY. Talk to any of the people who lived through measles or polio and have them describe to you what happens and how far advances in modern medicine have come. Also, I don’t want to hear about how vaccines gave Jenny McCarthy’s child autism. The doctor’s theory she sensationalized (Dr. Andrew Wakefield) was completely debunked and discredited, because…wait for it…HE MADE THINGS UP TO SUPPORT HIS HYPOTHESIS.

On a more positive note…

Last week I joined Jen and Alex for coffee along with their sweet little daughters. It was so nice to relax, chat and break up my work day.

Ashley blogged a photo of these adorable cocktail napkins and now I can’t get them fast enough!

I’m dying to try the peanut butter ice cream that Jen blogged about on Friday. I had every intention of whipping out our new Vitamix this weekend and it just didn’t happen. Stay tuned for later this week 🙂

How was your weekend? Do you have a particular stance on vaccines?
