So every now and again, I stumble upon something so insane I think to myself “that might actually work”. As lucky would have it for all of you, earlier this week was one of those times.
I was addictively pinning casually browsing Pinterest when I came across a pin for those “It Works!” wraps. I kind of laughed to myself and kept browsing. Here’s the thing–I’ve never tried one. Maybe they work, maybe they don’t. I’m just not interested in spending money for a chance on something that could potentially fall flat. I’m on a budget, people!
HOWEVER! Then I stumbled across a pin for a natural DIY detoxifying wrap. Hmm, that could be interesting, so I clicked.
HELLO RABBITHOLE!
All I needed was coconut oil, saran wrap and a good night’s rest. Hmm, I thought. I had both of those things on hand already so it wasn’t going to cost me any money. And sleep? I could do this!
And so I did…
I’m going to preface all of this by saying that I absolutely do not think this wrap is a means of sustainable weight loss–I stand behind a balanced diet and exercise for that. I’m also not a nutritionist, fitness expert or health professional.
What I DO think that this wrap aids with is helping your body sweat out extra water weight you may be carrying day-to-day–and that’s it. I’ll try anything once and my addiction to the Pinterest tutorials I was seeing could not be contained!
Step 1: Obtain coconut oil and saran wrap. We had the industrial size from when we moved, which proved valuable, because it was the exact size of my torso!
Step 2: Take Before photos. One from the front angle and one from the side.
Step 3: Oil up your stomach and sides with coconut oil. I used about 3 tablespoons.
Step 4: Wrap! Wrap! Wrap! Make it tight, but not tight enough that you have trouble catching your breath.
Step 5: Put on an old t-shirt and sweats (to avoid oil getting on your sheets) and go to bed.
*I put a pair of scissors on my nightstand just in case I woke up in the middle of the night too sweaty to sleep and needed to cut the wrap off!
Step 6: Wake up, cut off your wrap, wipe off the oil and take after photos.
As you can tell by the photos, I definitely look less bloated. Would I do this again? Maybe if I was a model and had an early morning bikini photoshoot. Sleeping was uncomfortable and I was REALLY sweaty. Like, disgustingly sweaty (sorry! Just keeping it real!). I’m definitely happy I tried it, because I would have always wondered about it and it didn’t cost me any money.
Have you ever tried a wrap? What did you think?
