At our house, we do!
We had an amazingly low key weekend. Friday night we cooked dinner and relaxed at home. Dane came home before 7PM for once (a glorious life bonus) and it was my night to pick the movie so a trashy Lifetime movie about high school hookers it was. As a side note, Lifetime never disappoints in the movie department. I’m dying to see the new one about killer cougars who prey on teenage boys. #guiltypleasure
Saturday we hosted a yard sale, made $62 and got rid of a ton of stuff. Purging our house of unnecessary goods was SO THERAPEUTIC and I highly recommend it to all of you reading.
And then Sunday rolled along.
I woke up to a super sweet (sparkly) card from Dane wishing me a happy half birthday alongside coffee on my night stand. I would just like to take this opportunity to say that any man who makes you coffee and has it delivered to you in bed without waking you up deserves a special award. I don’t know how I won the husband lottery, if you were wondering.
We were supposed to go paddle boarding with Judy, but got rained out, so we snagged a couple of acai bowls and watched the rain (and tourists) in Haleiwa.
The rest of the day was spent inside watching movies. If you’ve never seen Wild, I highly recommend it. I read the book while we were in Thailand and it is SO GOOD. Read the book, then watch the movie.
Dane had made surprise reservations for us at BLT Waikiki, a restaurant I’ve been dying to try.
It did NOT disappoint. Filet, truffle mashed potatoes, honeyed Brussel sprouts, grilled asparagus, chicken pate — oh God, my mouth is watering all over again. Hawaii friends — you need to go!
And what dinner is complete without beverages? We enjoyed a bottle of Cab Sauv (our favorite) that we brought, salted caramel martinis, a pineapple basil infusion and some cognac. All were incredible!
All in all, it was a refreshing and relaxing weekend. How was yours? Do you celebrate half birthdays?
