There are so many different beaches here on Oahu that picking a favorite can be really difficult — I like them all for different reasons! One of the first beaches we came to when we moved here was Waimea Bay. The history of this particular beach is incredible and anyone who knows the story of Eddie Aikau will have so much respect for the lifeguards that currently patrol there.

In any case, we quickly learned that Waimea Bay is tourist central (parking is a nightmare) and the only real way enjoy it is to go right at 6am, enjoy your coffee and let your dog run in circles until she’s exhausted. If you’re ever visiting Oahu, be sure to stop by for the crystal clear waters & iconic coastline!
Admittedly, even though it can often be packed with tourists, it’s one of our favorite spots on the island and in the winter months, it’s a great spot to watch the big North Shore waves.
