Over the weekend, Dane and I ventured into Honolulu for the Made In Hawaii Festival, an expo held every year to showcase the talented and creative artisans of the islands. We missed it last year, because we were in Pennsylvania for our wedding, so I knew it was a definite calendar item for this year!
I’ll be honest, $6 to park and $5 per person at the door kind of annoyed me, but as soon as we walked through the doors of the Neil Blaisdell Center, I knew that it was worth it…and then some! Colorful vendors exhibiting all of Hawaii’s finest goods — clothes, food, accessories, home decor and so much more — lined the walls. Just when I thought we were getting to “the end”, a whole new line of vendors awaited us!
I knew before that these islands were full of talent, but now I am convinced that Hawaii is home to some of the most talented people and some of the most delicious food in all the world.
We had such a fun time and it was so great discovering some new favorites. I think what I love most about supporting local and shopping small business is the connection you have with the person who is making what you’re buying. Thank you for a great festival and we will see you next year Made In Hawaii!
