Chicago: Part 1

Travel, USA · September 23, 2015 · 8 Comments

After our quick adventure in Seattle, we hopped on a plane to Chicago, where we would be meeting my parents for a wedding. It was so great to see the city, family and enjoy a little bit of R&R with Dane.
We arrived at midnight on Friday and went straight to our hotel, but not before diving into our wedding cake that my parents so graciously toted all the way from Pennsylvania. When we had our wedding last summer, we saved the topper as part of the longstanding tradition, but when our anniversary rolled around in August — the cake topper was still in Pennsylvania.
It was a great surprise from my parents and SO appreciated. It even tasted great 13 months later!
Saturday was a day filled with seeing a different body of water and exploring the Bahai Worship Center — it was absolutely breathtaking! I couldn’t get past the beautiful architecture.
We capped off a fun afternoon with pizza from Lou Malnati’s! It was as delicious as I’ve always remembered and Dane is now a true believer in Chicago’s deep dish pizza. Hey Taylor, how about a delivery?
Soon enough, it was time for us to head to the rehearsal dinner. It was held at the Kenilworth Club and was absolutely gorgeous.
Sunflowers everywhere you turned, a line band, bellinis with fresh blackberries and mini pork belly bites…ahh, I wish I could go back and re-live it again. When it was finally time to eat, we sat down to a family-style meal of cheese and meat platters, fresh burrata, chicken picante and more. I was in a total food coma by the time it was all said and done.
We practically fell into bed to get all rested up for our RPM experience!
