Dane and I made a deal this year to forget gift giving for Valentine’s Day and instead, find a way to give back. It helped that Valentine’s Day fell on the first Sunday of Lent this year, but serving food or volunteering at a food bank was all stuff we have done before.
In any case, when we found out that Pearl Harbor was hosting a fundraiser with a theme — we were SO THERE.
Admittedly, I was a little bit nervous about what I might wear and how I could style my hair. Nothing a little bit of time and browsing Pinterest didn’t rectify! I loved how my look came together. It helped I had a really handsome date 😉
P.S. Search “retro style” on Pinterest and tell me you don’t feel like you were born in the wrong decade. I certainly do! The style, the music the flair…!!

A 40’s themed dance-a-thon, live swing music and great atmosphere made it a perfect romantic evening together. It was held in the Pacific Aviation Museum, so hanging out amongst all sorts of WWII artifacts made it fun for a pair of history nerds like us.
The icing on the cake was knowing that all the money raised was going to help local wounded veterans!
I hope you enjoyed time this weekend with the ones you love the most!
