Today I’m excited to share something that is not-so-exciting, but super important as the holidays approach and that is…safety for your dog. From now until the end of the year, pets are faced with more tempting hazards than ever — decorations, candles, flickering lights, chocolate and more. In this post I’m sharing some fall hazards for dogs, as well as tips for pet first aid kits!
Fall Hazards For Dogs
Dane and I just moved into a new house, so I thought Halloween and BOO-ing would be the perfect opportunity to put a little something together for our new neighbors’ pooches to warn about fall hazards and offer a few first aid items in the form of a BOO BOO Bag. Everyone close to us has a dog so I think I’ve finally found my pack and they should know pretty early on that I’m a #crazydoglady.
To get this project rolling, I picked up some PEDIGREE® Treats, since what kind of pup doesn’t like treats?! I made sure to get an assortment of sizes to suit the needs of my neighbors! While you’re shopping, be sure to also grab cotton balls/gauze pads, tape, an ace bandage, band-aids and a case of water bottles. You can add/subtract as much as you want, but those are some classic pet-based first aid staples. While we never want to think of worst case scenarios for our dogs — fall is full of them, so being prepared is essential.
Fall Hazards To Be Aware Of Around Your Dog

When I got home, I divided out all of the materials I needed for each bag and stuffed them into a decorative gift bag along with the BOO’d card.

I included a zip tie in mine, because you never know when those may come in handy for keeping a bandage in place, keeping a collar secure, etc. |
