It’s October and you know what that means…everything is turning pink for breast cancer awareness–even the NFL! Personally, breast cancer and childhood cancer (painting September gold!) hold a very special place in my heart, so I’m combining yellow and pink for this special drink. Are you ready?
Easy Watermelon Basil Lemonade
Easy Watermelon Basil Lemonade
To make a medium-sized pitcher of this tasty treat, you will need:
2 cups lemon juice, freshly squeezed
2 cups watermelon
3 cups water
1/4 cup basil leaves, finely chopped
For Your Simple Syrup:
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
Easy Watermelon Basil Lemonade
1. Let’s start with the simple syrup. Bring your granulated sugar and water to a boil on the stove. When combined into a syrupy texture, remove from heat and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
**note: this is best done the day prior to making your lemonade!
2. For the lemonade, grab a medium-sized pitcher and pour in lemon juice.
3. In your blender, combine watermelon, water and basil leaves. Blend on high until well combined.
4. Place a strainer over the top of your pitcher and pour watermelon/basil mixture through it.
5. Add in the entire mixture of simple syrup, stirring well.
6. Pour over ice and enjoy!
If there’s one thing that is important to note, it’s that I really love
tart drinks – the more pucker, the better, so to me this is all quite delicious! If you don’t feel the same way, you can modify this recipe by using more simple syrup (sweeter) or fewer lemons (tart).

Cheers, friends!
