The Dry Skin Challenge

Beauty · April 19, 2017 · 9 Comments

I’m sharing Curél® in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™ #curelskincare #enddryskin

Okay, so here’s a fun little story for you all to start off your Wednesday. I love, love, love going in for my bi-weekly manicures. It’s probably the only real thing I treat myself to regularly, because I don’t go to a salon for haircuts or colors, I don’t mess around with fancy eyelashes (though I do really love the look) and I don’t really care for massages – manicures and pedicures are my thing. So when my mom was here visiting in March, we tried out a new place that I had heard really great reviews about. We picked our colors, got settled in our seats and the respective nail technicians got to work. As she was finishing up and applying the post-mani lotion with hand massage (all you fellow mani addicts know exactly what I’m talking about), she pulled down her mask, pointed at my hand and said…ALLIGATOR. Come again!? Then she proceeded to point all up and down my arms. Uhh…folks, we have a problem.

As we were leaving the salon, I recounted to my mom what had happened and here’s a sad fact – super dry skin runs in my family. HIP HIP NO-RAY. My mom said that she can slather herself in nothing but coconut oil and it is instantly sucked up by her skin within minutes and the “alligator” feel is back within in an hour.

I still couldn’t stop thinking about this skin snafu, when I got an email asking if I wanted to be a Curél® ambassador. Their objective was pretty simple – start putting an end to dry skin by changing up your skincare routine. I would swap traditional moisturizer for Curél® HYDRA THERAPY WET SKIN MOISTURIZER!

The Dry Skin Challenge

I won’t lie – I was hesitant. I have a bad history with lotions – frankly, many of them don’t work for me.

But the alligator comment was still ringing pretty strong in the back of my head so I figured – what does this skeptical reptile have to lose? I was in. After all, wet skin moisturizing is apparently the hot new thing, so what the heck?!

A few days later, two bottles of Curél® HYDRA THERAPY WET SKIN MOISTURIZER arrived at my doorstep and I immediately put one into my bathroom right by my sink so I legitimately could not forget. #letsdothis

I’ve officially been using the wet skin moisturizer treatment for a full seven days, four of which were spent in the blistering Hawaii sun all day long!

Don’t worry, I was slathered in sunscreen, but still – my skin is in serious need of moisture! With summer on the horizon, our weekends in the sun won’t be slowing down, so I’m anxious to see how the next couple months go using Curél®.

A couple things I noticed right off the bat:

1. The moisturizer only squirts out a nickel-sized amount each time you pump. Initially this was super annoying to me, because I was like…I need more product! But not so. The formula is thick, so you don’t need as much as you think you do to evenly coat your skin.

2. I think when I was thinking about this product initially I had visions of just being soaking wet and greasy due to the water/lotion mixture – I’m not sure…my mind goes crazy sometimes! But – that’s not the case at all. I apply to wet skin after my showers, since the moisturizer is activated by water, and smooth it on. The formula isn’t greasy at all and by the time I figure out what I’m wearing for the day, it’s dry and I’m good to go. I was kind of curious as to how/why I wasn’t greasy, but basically – since your pores are open from being hot and in the shower, the moisture sinks deep down when you apply and when you’re dry – they close back up locking moisture in. Kind of cool, eh?

Be sure to look for posts in the coming months for updates on my Dry Skin Challenge 🙂

Have you ever tried Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer?
