Kate Spade x Keds | Just A Little Sparkle
When Dane and I visited the mainland over Memorial Day weekend, there was one trend that stuck out to me in a big way – slip on sneakers. I immediately texted my friend Kelsey and said “do I need a pair?! Do you love them?”, since she is my go-to guru on all things trends + fashion. Turns out, I did need a pair. Since, I have been on the hunt for some slip-ons that I could wear with both casual and dressy outfits, but fit my style at the same time. When I saw kate spade new york was doing a line for KEDS, I knew I needed to take a closer peek. I’m so glad I did! These Triple Decker Slip Ons are at the intersection where comfort meets functionality with just a little sparkle. See also: perfect for me!
Kate Spade for Keds
We don’t get a true fall here in Hawaii, but the weather definitely gets cooler (by our standards!) and I find myself veering toward jeans, tees and sneakers more than flip flops or shorts.
I was a little apprehensive that the “triple decker” footbed would be too high, or platform-y, but it turns out, that’s just the name – they don’t look or feel clunky and if I’m being honest – that triple decker refers to the amount of padding on the inside, because these are so comfortable!
If you’ve been reading here for awhile, you know I love a good sparkly piece, which is why I was immediately drawn to these. That said, I also don’t want a billboard on my size 8.5-9 feet, which is why the color choice is crucial. I love that these are an understated olive green, which is perfect as we transition into fall, and can be paired with both jeans for brunch, errands and beyond, or going to and from the gym with leggings. I’m the first to admit that I am the WORST when it comes to changing out of my gym attire right away, because it’s just so much easier to freshen up and finish up my errands while I’m already out! Can you blame me? In any case, I road tested them on my recent try to NY and they were AWESOME. I had a few airports I needed to race through and they totally rocked it, without looking like a true sneaker.
I plan on packing these slip-ons again for some of our trips where there will be quite a bit of walking this fall. Considering they’re so comfortable, they’re the perfect fashionable compromise between athletic sneakers and shoes that look good but aren’t great for walking. All my ladies out there understand!
What do you think about the slip-on sneaker trend? Yay or nay?
