Happy Monday, everyone! It seems like this weekend buzzed by in a flash and I’m going to go ahead and chalk that up to being filled to the brim with activities. We started off the weekend with the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival Uncorked event. Each year, Hawaii Food and Wine hits the islands for two weeks of fun foodie events. This year we could only attend one and it did not disappoint. Uncorked was held on the roof of the Hawaii Convention Center and they had huge white tents set up with chefs cooking up some amazing food inside. There were 21 chefs and each offered something unique and different. It’s one of those events where you never know what you’re going to be trying!
Everything about the night was so much fun. We got to taste some amazing dishes (the tempura shrimp rolls with pineapple slaw were my favorite!) and the drinks didn’t disappoint either! The cocktails and wine were abundant with at least 10 bartenders (maybe more, but I saw at least 10!) and 20 winemakers. I honestly didn’t want the night to end, but Dane had to work on Saturday so alas – we called it a night kind of early.
We got home and could not, for the life of us, find Bill. Turns out – he was sitting on the dining room table, which is a new party trick he has started recently that sort of freaks us out. Naughty pup!
And after seeing how dismal my living room appears, I was totally inspired to shake things up. I talked a little bit about my lack of inspiration in this post since we moved, but this picture was just what I needed. I’ve since rolled out some rugs I had in storage, assembled the dining room furniture in a way that is welcoming and inviting, dusted off some old photos, hung them up and put up curtains. See ya later ugly blinds! Hopefully this satiates my need for organization, color and happiness within my home….at least for the time being 😉 I also put up our Christmas decorations. Now before you crucify me about turkey and holiday order, hear me out…We are going away for ten days over Thanksgiving. The last thing I’m going to want to do between unpacking and laundry is also assemble the house for Christmas. Say what you will, but Christmas decor also adds a good amount of happiness to my life, so can you blame me?
Saturday night Dane and I had tickets to go see Jimmy Buffett at the Waikiki Shell with some friends of ours. He didn’t disappoint (well, besides the fact that ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise’ was omitted from the set list) and the setting was picture perfect – light trade winds and a beautiful sunset!
Sunday the new Chip + Joanna Gaines Hearth & Hand Magnolia Collection debuted at Target and I had promised myself I wouldn’t go apeshit, so I didn’t set an alarm, but I did take a peek online. Friends – it’s legit. I loved all the muted grey tones for basic pieces and the rustic Christmas decor is adorable. I’m not sure what direction I’m going with decor (is moving box chic a thing?), so I’m holding off for now. I’m sure to regret that decision in a few weeks when it’s sold out!
Alright, enough about me and our weekend – how was yours? Did you shop the Hearth & Hand collection? What are your thoughts on Christmas decor?
