2017 is winding down and while everyone else seems to be hunkering down for the holidays, I feel like our life is still going 100mph. Anyone else feeling a little bit like that too? It’s been awhile since I shared a little bit about life lately around here, so I wanted to pop in today with some photos and snippets of what we’ve been up to in a life lately (via my iPhone) post ๐
First of all – how the heck is it already December 21? It seems like it was just the end of summer and suddenly, we’re turning the corner on the new year. I think when you get older, the years go by a lot faster. Crazy! The night before the marathon we walked down to the water near our house and watched this beautiful sunset. I couldn’t stop snapping pics! Safe to say when we leave Hawaii I’ll miss these beautiful sunsets the most!
Last weekend I hosted an “All The Glitters” event with Kate Spade at Ala Moana and had the best time! There were delicious snacks (see also: some of my favorite candy!), a sparkling drink and a fun giveaway for one of their newest bags. I had a ton of fun throwing around glitter in the photo booth, playing shopper stylist with guests and hanging out! I’m hopefully hosting another event this spring…so stay tuned ๐
Interested in the dress and sneaker combo? Kate Spade launched a line with Ked’s earlier this year (read more here) and I loved the mix of fancy and casual! My dress is an old fit-and-flare party dress that is no longer available online (check back because sometimes they randomly get brought back), but you can shop theย shoes here. Not ready to go all in on the glitter? These shiny sneaks are next on my list!
We discovered Hanson Vodka earlier this year and it’s been topping the list for all of our related friends and family. A fun little namesake, even though we are not related whatsoever. It’s a small distillery in Sonoma, California and they have all sort of unique flavors (Cucumber, anyone?). It’s safe to say Bill wasn’t too sure about me shipping out this bottle ๐
And speaking of the dogs not being able to stay out of our business, here’s a sneak peek of what it’s like to eat in the car with them in the backseat. Dane and I were headed to the beach last weekend and we were starving. We didn’t really want to stop and spend more money, so when we saw I had an extra Stinger Waffle in my car, we decided to split it. Judy and Bill were all about trying to figure out how they could get some. Crazy dogs!
Does anyone else do those Instagram Best 9 generators? I kind of love seeing which posts were popular throughout the year. I generated mine last week and I thought it was a fun montage to share. You can get your own by visiting 2017BestNine.com.
It’s safe to say my people like beaches and our travels ๐ If you’re not following along over on Instagram, you can find me here.
Last weekend we ventured to the Kaneohe Sandbar with my blog-friend-turned-real-life-friend Katie and her family. We had so much fun splashing around even though the water was a little chilly and the sky was slightly overcast. The sun did peek through a few times!
Winter in Hawaii means big waves and surfing competitions! We don’t get snow, but Oahu definitely gets a little chillier and the waves get much bigger, which brings in all the big surfing companies to sponsor competitions and draws some of the biggest names in the sport to our tiny island in the Pacific. The Billabong Pipemasters finished on Monday and crowned Sunset Beach-local John John Florence the champion for the second year in a row. He’s a local here, so nearly every business had an official sign out and houses had posted homemade signs. It was pretty neat to see!
And finally…we celebrated Dane’s birthday with a fun date night out at one of our favorite restaurants. Nothing too fancy, just the two of us, some delicious food and good conversation. Cheers to 33 years, my love!
I think that covers it! While putting this post together, I couldn’t help but think about how all of these “life lately” happening seem rather mundane to me…it’s just my day to day! But after a whirlwind year, I’m happy to be enjoying all the small details of our island life and the people in it.
What have you been up to lately? Anything fun planned this holiday?
