I know this might come as a shock to anyone reading who knows how deep the love of holidays runs around here, but I’m just going to come out and say it…Valentine’s Day isn’t a huge deal at our house. Whew, now that I have that off my chest…let me explain why. Valentine’s Day was always a cutesy little holiday within my family growing up where we shared cards and fun meal together and I passed out Valentines and lollipops to my friends at school. Then, when I was in high school, my grandpa died on Valentine’s Day and any spark of wonder the holiday held sort of disintegrated. As time has passed, the holiday has gotten easier, but it’s still a day I feel mostly “eh” about. When Dane and I got married, I sort of explained my lack of enthusiasm for the holiday and to my astonishment…he pretty much agreed. We keep the day really simple around here and stick to cards or something small and sweet the other could use. We stopped going out to eat and choose to make dinner at home, usually a delicious homemade pasta dish, and hang out with the dogs. Whether you go over the top for Valentine’s Day (no judgement!) or stick to something simple, today’s post is for you. I’m sharing my Valentine’s Day Gift List with items that are all under $10. Whether you are treating your sweetie or BFF, there is something here for you!
Valentine’s Day Gift List: Under $10!
Wooden Heart Spoon | Tequila Mockingbird | Heart Swizzle Sticks | Pineapple Candle | Gummy Candy Lips | What I Love About You | Bath Bomb | Monogram Mug | Nail Polish | Cactus Sheet Mask | Sea Salt Soap | Notes For Besties | Headphone Splitter | Macaron Lip Balm | Power Bank
There is a little something for everyone in this collection! You can never go wrong with the candy, but opt for something a little more fun and skip the box of chocolates. The gummy lips are delicious and Sugarfina also sells a ton of other cute shapes + flavors of candy. Any sort of pampering-style gifts like bath bombs or face masks are good for girlfriends or wives. Heck, I think Dane would even partake in a good sheet mask. We take skincare seriously here 😉 I love the fill-in-the-blank notecard set for besties and the lovey-dovey version for couples and Tequila Mockingbird literally makes me laugh out loud! A good pun is never a bad thing. I was honestly shocked at how many awesome (and useful) things I found for under $10 that wouldn’t wind up in the trash. Not spending a lot doesn’t mean rummaging at the dollar spot!
I think this year we are sticking around the house and making some chocolate pasta with a heart marinara for dinner. It’s a meal my mom used to make all the time when I was growing up and it’s kind of special and unique, so be sure to tune into my Instagram stories on Valentine’s Day to see if I can make it happen!
Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s Day? Or just kind of skip over it altogether?
