Happy Friday! It has been a long time (too long!) since I did a little life update around here, so I figured I should pop in today to talk about what we’ve been up to, what we’ve got on the docket for the next few weeks and some of my favorite photos (even if they are some pixel-y) iPhone snaps. If you’re interested in a little peek of our day-to-day I hope you’ll stick around 🙂
The weather here on Oahu has been dreary for more days than I care to admit – just mostly overcast and then random torrential downpours, which makes it kind of hard to plan on doing anything outdoors. It’s hit or miss! When the sun began to peek through the clouds a few weeks ago, Dane and I took the opportunity to check out the North Shore pillboxes. I’m glad we did and it was a good little workout on that last stretch and the rain began a deluge shortly after we got back to our car!
For Super Bowl Sunday, Dane picked up a case of beer from Costco and the box was waiting by the recycle bin out back, so imagine my surprise when I peeked through the window and saw Bill with it lounging in the yard! It was too funny not to snap a photo. We were also in the process of installing turf grass into our backyard to try to combat the insane amount of mud back there. I’m happy to report it is installed and working really well! There is a cute shopping area in a neighborhood called Kakaako here in Honolulu, so to beat the rainy day blues, we decided to head over there last weekend and take a stroll around. There are so many cute boutique style shops and eateries. We ended up not buying anything (honestly it was just good to get out of the house!), but settled on some kombucha from Morning Brew. Was so good!
All the rain lately has really taken a toll on my online shopping habit and truthfully – much of what I’ve ordered has been total misses! A lot of rompers gone awry, LOL! But – two winners are these two pairs of pants. I would not lead you astray in the pants department, Girl Scout’s honor, so I promise these live up to the hype. Considering I don’t wear pants a ton, my seal of approval in this department is weighted heavily!
First up, we have these high rise jeans that are almost $20 off what they retail for in stores. I picked them up off Amazon and I have since heard from both Erica and Chelsea that they ordered and loved them. If you’ve been on the hunt for your new favorite pair of jeans – these are it! For reference, I am 5’4″, 135 and ordered a 28. They fit like a dream!
Next up are these beauties! My mom gifted me these for my birthday and I’ve since ordered another pair. Not only do they suck in any and all jiggly bits, but they are high rise, flattering and can be dressed up or down since they have that fun little detail on the bottom. I’ve worn them to spin AND out to dinner with some cute slides. I also had a photographer friend order them to wear during weddings (the pockets in the front hold cash and a credit card/ID comfortably). The options are endless, but I couldn’t keep these multi-purpose wonder pants to myself! For reference, I am 5’4, 135 and I am wearing a size small petite (available only online).I’ve been working on quite a few recipes behind the scenes here lately and some Northern Lights inspired sugar cookies are on the list! Stay tuned – recipe coming, I promise! But I loved how this dough looked all rolled out on my countertop. While combing through old photos, my mom found this snap of herself in the 80s. I can’t help but gawk, because I feel 100% like I’m looking at a photo of myself! Genetics are crazy!
And I think that’s just about all I have for today! Thank you to so many of you who have been sticking around all these years and reading about my life, travels and beyond – it means so much to me to have such a supportive community of amazing people. February 1 marked seven years of this space and it’s kind of hard for me to believe that it’s been that long and in the same breath – I feel like I started this little online space a lifetime ago. Either way – I’m glad it’s still around and thankful to have met so many amazing people through it 🙂
Now let’s chat – what are you up to this weekend? How have you been?
