Happy Wednesday, everyone! I was sorting through photos last week and thought…dang, it’s been awhile since I shared a photo dump of life lately via my iPhone. I always seem to catch some funny stuff, our everyday life and a few special moments with my phone, so I wanted to share them here. One day, I know this blog will serve as a great reminder of our life and I’m sure these posts will be fun to look back on! Heck, I kind of like looking at the ones from just a few years ago. So today, I’m sharing a life lately post with photos straight from the phone – no editing. Stick around if you like 🙂Dane and I have been taking our drone out more and more lately trying to get a firm grasp on flying it and developing better flying techniques to create better videos from our trips. It has resulted in some great photos and I couldn’t help but smile when I found this one on our memory card!Pow Wow Hawaii comes to Kakaako every year to have some amazingly talented artists re-do the murals in this up-and-coming neighborhood. I spotted this seal on a few Instagram feeds while it was in progress and knew it was one of the first murals I wanted to check out once it was finished. How amazing is it!?
If you follow along on Instagram, you are well aware  that centipedes are the bane of my existence here in Hawaii. The other day I was switching laundry over into the dryer and went to grab a handful of clothes to throw into the dryer and spotted this enormous ‘pede. It had gone through an entire wash cycle, so I just assumed it was dead, but I should have known better. That freaking thing was still alive and kicking and it was FIERCE. I ended up having to stun it with bleach (it kept latching onto my tongs I used to grab it and trying to crawl up the handle) so I could grab the dang thing quickly and put it into a bag. It woke right up immediately when I put it into the bag, so even after taking it outside, smashing it with my foot while wearing boots…it was still alive. Sidenote: if you aren’t familiar with centipedes, they just don’t die. I’m convinced they would survive nuclear holocaust, because they are just that determined. In any case, I had to cut the dang thing into 3 pieces and set it on fire before it would die. And even after the cutting and the fire, it was still moving. GAH! Just another day in Hawaii….Last week, my friend Katie invited me to Ala Moana for lunch and our table wasn’t quite ready yet, so we grabbed some drinks. This mango margarita was delicious! This silly green dinosaur makes me laugh every time I see it laying around the house. It’s as big as Bill, but it’s his “baby”. We got the dang thing at Costco about a year ago on a total whim thinking the dogs might like it. Judy wanted nothing to do with it, but Bill adopted it as his BFF, who we lovingly refer to as Deeno the Dino. He sleeps with him every single night into his crate and then pulls him out each and every morning. Dane snapped this photo before he did yoga one morning and it’s Bill just lounging sleepily with his buddy. The other week Dane and I headed to Maui for a few hours for a project I’m working on and had a few extra minutes to pop into some of my favorite shops. This mug never ceases to make me laugh. You can pick it up from Biasa Rose in Paia on Maui if you’re in love! One of my fitness-based goals for the new year was to focus on my arms. I have started doing some workouts on YouTube and lifting with Dane and I am starting to see a difference and it gives me hope! I know it probably looks like nothing serious or crazy to most people, but I feel stronger and see a difference in myself, which is what matters the most!
I saw this on Pinterest last week and thought it was so stinking cute I took a screenshot and sent it to my mom. If anyone has kids or kid parties to attend this Easter, will you PLEASE make these for me?!I was at Zara last weekend and popped in to the dressing rooms to try this top on after seeing it on the rack paired with a delicious pair of linen pants. I already have some pants in my closet, but when I tried it on, I felt like it kind of fell flat on me. Maybe it’s the sports bra I had on, but something about it just seems awkward to me, which makes me so sad, because I wanted so badly for it to work out! Thoughts? If anyone else is a psychological thriller lover like I am – you need to pick up LIAR by KL Slater. Seriously – I read it in a single weekend and would have probably read it in a single day if given the opportunity. It is that good!!
Some nights at our house dinner is a mashup of what we have in our refrigerator and a few simple ingredients that can pull it all together. This specific night it was a taco burrito bowl with buffalo cauliflower rice, quinoa, peppers, onions, guac and lettuce. I didn’t initially have high hopes for the mix, but it ended up being MEGA DELISH! Aren’t those types of meals the best?
I love any excuse to hit up ARVO here in Honolulu and there have been an influx of friends visiting the islands, so I’ve been getting my fill of pretty lattes and girl time. WIN WIN! Clutch can be found here. A staple for pool, beach or tropical vacay since it’s waterproof!I have fallen completely off the Snapchat wagon since the new changes confuse me, but that doesn’t stop me from checking out the new filters now and again. These little waffle ears made me so happy when I discovered them last week! And definitely hid how tired I was in real life..HA!How beautiful is this hibiscus?! I spotted it on a run last week and stopped to snap a photo. I was (clearly) having issues getting my camera to focus and kept tapping the screen to no avail. I was so caught up in what I was doing that a guy on the sidewalk who lived nearby stared and all I could muster out was “CAN YOU BELIEVE HOW BEAUTIFUL THESE FLOWERS ARE?!” He was completely bewildered, but I still think they are stunning and would do it all again – but maybe be a little less awkward next time 😉
What have you been up to lately?
