It’s been a little while since I did a life lately update post, so I wanted to pop in here to share some straight-gutta-the-iPhone snaps of what we’ve been up to around here. It seems like sometimes life goes at 100mph and other times it’s a lull. I never used to appreciate those lulls of life, but as I get older, I find myself looking forward to the slower seasons, the weekends with no plans and the ability to just lay low around the house. Anyone else agreeing with that? Don’t get me wrong – I love the fast paced flow, too, but squeezing in good breaks here in there to recharge is so good for the soul. If you’re interested in a quick little recap of what we’ve had going on, feel free to stick around today 🙂 We’ll start with this beautiful sunset snap I took while we were in Tahiti. I know that was two weeks ago, but I just posted it on Instagram, because I can’t get enough of the colors. Magic – pure magic.
Speaking of the slow season of life, this is a peek at my wild Saturday night. Not quite what they once were 😉 Give me all the Biore strips, white strips and People Magazine, please! And you know it’s a good day when I washed my freaking hair, LOL!
Last Sunday it was another rainy day here on Oahu (don’t even get me started..) so Dane and I headed out to Ala Moana (a huge shopping mall) for a little spending bender. He was in need of some clothes for our upcoming trip to Italy and I needed to exchange and return a few things. We strolled into Zara and Dane had never been in there before, so when I came back to the dressing room and saw this – I almost lost my mind. Maybe I have a secret fashion blogger as a husband?!
One of our favorite breakfast/brunch treats is Eggs Benedict, but danggit – why is it so expensive when you go out?! Our solution has been to make it at home and we’ve come a really long way in this department. This particular time we were enjoying the meal for dinner (brunch for dinner is a favorite over here, especially when we’re both suffering from Sunday Scaries) and I made sweet potato patties instead of an English muffin. I topped them with sliced avocado, poached eggs and some homemade Hollandaise sauce. Topped it all with a dash of smoked paprika and man – it was DELICIOUS! It even got the seal of approval from Dane as “Top 10 Dinners”, which is kind of a huge deal since the others that place in that category have come from top-starred professional chefs, LOL!
Designs in coffee will never get old to me. How pretty is this latte I enjoyed with a friend from last week?!
Every single morning before Dane heads to work he does yoga, which is equal parts impressive and admirable to me. For starters – I’m not a huge yoga person even though my mom is an instructor and my husband is obsessed. Maybe it’s just not for me, but I always catch myself saying…maybe I should give it another shot and then I wind up in a class beside a heavy breather and that’s all I can focus on. In any case – the other morning I snapped this photo of Dane and Bill and it kind of makes my heart melt. Also real talk with the photos today – his office is a mess!Â
I spotted these blue bow slides last week and I think they’re adorable! I didn’t pick them up, but I’m kind of kicking myself for it now after looking at this photo again. They were surprisingly very comfortable and I loved the espadrille detail with the mini platform. Also to note – look how faded my pedicure looks! I noticed this in another photo and it annoys me for no other reason than when I first got my toes painted, they were neon to match my nails, but only my toes have faded. So weird!
While Dane was getting down at Zara, I was at Nordstrom figuring out why I don’t have boobs to fill out this fun linen number that I fell in love with! I don’t wear a ton of orange, but I loved that this dress had the little peekaboo cut-out detail and linen is always a win for me, regardless of the wrinkling situation. Sadly, that top part just looks sad on me, so it stayed at the store, but otherwise it fits really well, so can someone just buy this and enjoy it for me?
And that’s a wrap! What have you been up to lately?
