Today is our anniversary! Dane and I got married on August 23, 2014 in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Harrisburg, PA surrounded by a small circle of our family and friends. It was a beautiful day from start to finish, despite August in Pennsylvania usually being a sweaty, sticky mess. I wore the first dress I tried on, Dane and I did a “through the wall” exchange of presents before our ceremony and we partied all night, complete with light up glowing batons provided by our D.J.
Dear Dane,
How is it possible that 4 years have gone by in the blink of an eye? I can remember feeling so calm getting ready for our big day – no nervous shakes or anxiety. I’ve know since the day I met you that I would marry you and felt so much peace knowing you were about to become my husband. I’m so thankful for our life together — not just for the good, but also for the bad, because it truly makes me appreciate the amazing times we have shared and the growth between us during trials is immeasurable. Someone asked me the other day if there’s anything I wish I would have known before I got married since it all happened pretty quickly and after thinking about it for awhile, there’s not. Because it’s really freaking easy to feel happy when life is exciting, right? When you’re traveling or shopping or buying a house. But it’s a true gift to be able to look around in the everyday moments and realize just how much you love your life together and that’s something I’ve always felt. When we get to the end of our lives, it won’t matter what cars we drove or house we had. What will matter is that we had each other and that was always more than enough. Happy 4 years to us — looking forward to a lifetime more. XO
And now…a few of my favorite snaps from our day 🙂
