Looking for a quick and easy homemade chip recipe that is perfect to whip together in less than 5 minutes this fall? My Pumpkin Spice Won Ton Chips have got you covered!
As I was browsing the store last week preparing for Hurricane Lane, I picked up a pack of won ton wrappers. Don’t ask me why – I still cannot tell you. Even as I was unpacking my groceries I thought “Why did I buy won ton wrappers?” It’s still a mystery to me, but after Lane came and went, I still had a package full.
I’ve never made fried won tons before, but we were having my favorite sweet potato skillet two nights ago, so I came up with the idea of frying won ton wrappers into “chips” to serve alongside the dish. Why I didn’t Google a traditional won ton recipe is still beyond me. I can’t explain myself in the kitchen sometimes.
In any case, I cut the wrappers into triangles, fried them in a little bit of coconut oil, dunked them in tequila lime salt and made some guacamole to go with the meal. WHOA BABY, those won ton chips were freaking amazing!
So I was telling my friend Skye about this and she knows I like sweets, so she suggest a sugary spin on this recipe idea and thus — Pumpkin Spice Won Ton Chips were born.
Pumpkin Spice Won Ton Chips
Like I said – I’m still not entirely sure why I thought buying won ton wrappers pre-hurricane was a good choice, but I’m so glad I did, because otherwise I don’t think these delightful fall-flavored chips would be in my life. Everyone started going nuts for the Pumpkin Spice Latte that came back to Starbucks this week, but to be honest – they kind of give me a headache. I really do love fall/pumpkin flavors, though, so this is my version of enjoying fall food 😉
Start to finish, these pumpkin spice won ton chips take about 5 minutes – they really are easy! I envision making them for fall parties, but truth be told – they would never last that long in my house. I imagine they would be quite good paired with my Apple Pie Dip, but I also had no problem devouring them all on my own 😉 The melted sugar paired with the spice and the crispy chip is my idea of the perfect snack.
Pumpkin Spice Recipes
To recreate these pumpkin spice won ton chips at your house, you will need:
1 package won ton wrappers (cut into triangles)
1 tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 1/2 tbsp. coconut sugar
1 tbsp. Calicutts Autumn Harvest Blend
2 tbsp. coconut oil
1. Mix together pumpkin pie spice, coconut sugar and Calicutts Autumn Harvest in a small bowl and set aside.
2. In a large pan (I love my All-Clad saute pan – I use it for nearly everything these days since the sides are high), heat the coconut oil over medium heat until liquid.
3. When hot, place triangle won tons into pan.
4. Sprinkle with sugar and spice mixture. Flip. Sprinkle opposite side.
5. The chips will cook quickly, so when slightly browned, remove from the hot pan and place on a baking sheet.
6. When all the won ton chips are cooked and on the baking sheet, sprinkle the remaining sugar and spice mixture onto chips.
7. Bake for 5-10 minutes at 350, or until most chips are fully browned.
8. Remove from oven and serve!
Pumpkin Spice Won Ton Chips
Okay, so I’ve got to be honest with you, I 100% ate half of these delicious chips straight off the pan as I was trying to style them to photograph, but they are too freaking good, especially since they were still warm! Like I said, perfect to pair with a yummy dip (3 Delicious Dips For Holiday Parties), but also a great addition to a fall charcuterie board, appetizer spread, on a dessert bar, as a snack to welcome guests, on game day — I mean honestly, do I need to go on? Fall food is the best food and these pumpkin spice won ton chips are no exception! In fact, I’m adding them to our Thanksgiving menu now!
