Happy Friday, everyone! It feels like it’s been forever since I popped in here with a 5 On Friday post. My life has been going a million miles per hour (a speed in which I thrive), but it feels good to carve out time here on the blog to dish some details on what I’m loving and what has sparked my interest this week. Let’s dive right on in and start with this beautiful reminder from my favorite – Stacie Swift!
5 On Friday
First things first, I’m spending the next few weeks with my parents in Pennsylvania, a fall weather treat I’ve been anticipating for months. Minus the fact that I arrived in Pennsylvania and it’s 80 degrees! What in the what?! It’s October, Mother Nature, this is not what I ordered! 🙁 That said, there has been a crispness in the morning that is perfect for sitting on their deck and enjoying my coffee.
While we were in Iceland, my friend Casey introduced me to this makeup setting spray. Now, to be honest, I don’t wear a ton of makeup, but when I do, I like for it to stay put, which is sometimes difficult in really hot Hawaii weather or in any climate that is sticky (like PA right now!). I used it during our trip and was majorly impressed, so I picked up a travel bottle at Ulta yesterday. While I was there, I also picked up a pack of these new hair ties – has anyone tried them? I am already in love!
Being back in PA means being able to enjoy some things we don’t see in Hawaii – like Trader Joe’s. My mom and I went right after she picked me up from the airport and I was in heaven. Pumpkin heaven, to be specific. We got so many fun treats to try, including an almond milk pumpkin drink that I’ve been enjoying in my coffee each morning. I’ve also gotten to try the cauliflower gnocchi everyone seems to rave about, gluten free pumpkin scones, spiced apple kombucha, birthday cake popcorn and a few other things. Can Hawaii just get a TJ’s already?!
On our flight home from Iceland, I started a new book that is outside the genre I normally gravitate toward. The Nightingale had been recommended to me so many times, but I finally took the plunge. I thought…37,000+ Amazon reviews can’t be wrong, right?! Oh boy – I can already tell it’s going to be a favorite for awhile. I was intrigued right from the get-go and even though it doesn’t have the telltale characteristics of twisted horror, it fulfills my fascination with history and family ties. 250 pages in and I still have more than half the book to go, but I love it and would recommend it! Have you read it?
My best friend Allie and her soon-to-be husband are opening up an Orange Theory fitness + she just so happens to be in town this weekend, so later today I’m attempting my first ever Orange Theory fitness class.I’ve always been intrigued, but to be honest, I’ve always thought it was a bit overpriced and that intimidated me, especially when I really do enjoy my runs and YouTube workouts that are my favorite price – free.99! But, I’m excited to see my friend and try something new (my first time is going to be free). I’ll keep you posted 🙂
I hope everyone has a great weekend. What do you have on tap? Have you read The Nightingale? Tried OTF?
