How To Spend A Rainy Day In Hawaii

Hawaii, Oahu, Travel · January 14, 2019 · Leave a Comment

It’s true what they say – Hawaii is endless summer! We live on Oahu and I’m fairly certain that it is sunny here at least 300/365 days per year. If not, it’s pretty dang close. That said, when it rains, it’s often like – crap, what can we do? Admittedly, we normally welcome the rainy weather since it gives us an excuse to hunker down indoors, watch movies and just generally be lazy. However, if it rains during your Hawaii vacation, laying around in a home or house rental isn’t exactly ideal or fun. Today I wanted to share how to spend a rainy day in Hawaii — specifically, how to spend a rainy day on Oahu. Just a few of our favorite activities or things we’ve discovered while making the most of the not-so-fun wet weather and hopefully you can find something to save your sanity 😉

How To Spend A Rainy Day In Hawaii

Epic Aloha

Drive H3 to see the waterfalls rolling off the mountains

See a movie at Dole Cannery

Walk around Ala Moana Shopping Center (and have a drink at the Mai Tai Bar!)

Waikiki Aquarium

The Bishop Museum or Iolani Palace make great rainy day activities! You might also consider Queen Emma Summer Palace. The Hawaii State Art Museum, as well as Pacific Aviation Museum on Pearl Harbor, are also neat!

Book a spa appointment at one of the hotel spas or a massage from Tiffany’s Thai Massages in Honolulu (she + her team are AMAZING! Dane loves them)

Polynesian Cultural Center

Visit Royal Hawaiian Center and participate in some of their free cultural activities

Snorkeling or diving. I know this sounds crazy, but we’ve seen some of the most beautiful sea life when it’s raining and there is hardly anyone in the water!
