It’s been a minute since I did a life lately post, so I figured I should dive in. Anyone else feeling a little bit like this week is going on forever? We leave for vacation next week, so maybe it’s just time dragging slowly for me! In any case, here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to lately via my iPhone!
Life Lately Via My iPhone
On Valentine’s Day, Dane and I got to attend a fundraiser event for the local military hospital aboard the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor. It was a nice evening out and a great excuse to bust out some fancy attire and get out of the house. We aren’t really Valentine’s Day people, but we had a nice time and loved being able to be on board such a historic ship!
Our living room makeover just wrapped and I absolutely can’t wait to share it with you next week! I am so dang excited with how it turned out and the below sneak peek is kind of my favorite part. I wanted a 6-8 foot picture ledge, but I could absolutely not find one I liked here on Oahu OR online. So – I swapped in a raw edge mantel in its place and it worked out so well! The layered frames is a look I fell in love with on Pinterest and the rest is history. I can’t wait to show you the full reveal!
I have been seeing the famed New York Times’ Alison Roman’s Chickpea Stew (it went viral on Instagram – search #TheStew), but finally mustered up the courage to try it. I have no idea why I was so nervous – the recipe is a snap and comes together pretty quickly. I have NO CLUE how there is so much flavor and deliciousness that comes out of such simple ingredients. Bottom line – make this ASAP! We inhaled it and Dane gave it the “OMG YOU HAVE TO MAKE THIS AGAIN!” Seal of approval!
I got to have lunch yesterday with a dear friend of mine at The Kahala’s Plumeria Beachhouse restaurant. They had completely revamped their menu, so we sample a few different small plates and one was this bruschetta sampler. It was SO tasty and I’m glad we got it. If you’re heading there, also test out the veggie panini with balsamic glaze – to die for!
I shared on Instagram that I finally found the perfect shoes for those of us with bunions who require a wide toe box. Who the heck knew so many of us suffered?! Anyway – I really love them! I’m wearing a size 9W and I linked every color I could find here.
I’m a lifetime member to Penn State’s Alumni Association and love being able to give back when I can. I thought this thank you mailer was GENIUS! It was a packet of seeds – how cool, right?!
Last weekend, Oahu gifted us one tiny glimpse of what we can expect for summer weather this year – 89 degrees and sweltering. We will take it! Dane and I hiked Makapuu before heading to one of our favorite shave ice spots – Uncle Clay’s! If you’ve never been and live in Hawaii, it’s a total MUST!
I’ve been on a “trying new recipes” bender (if you couldn’t tell…HA!) and this sheet pan gnocchi was on the docket last weekend. We loved it! I skipped the tomatoes, but I think in retrospect I should have added them. Oh well, was still mega tasty! 10/10 recommend for both taste and ease!
I fell in total LUST with Gemma Chan’s (from ‘Crazy Rich Asians’) Oscar dress. Did you see it? It was poufy pink perfection! In any case, then the next day my friend Casey sent me this article from TODAY and I fell in love all over again. A woman after my own heart…!
I sometimes get questions about what I’m wearing or where I got something, so I started using LikeToKnowIt more often. I don’t post a ton and it’s all travel or beach-specific (with maybe a few home decor type things thrown in), but you are more than welcome to follow me over there.
I ordered Dane these socks forever again after I saw a social media ad….and then they never showed up. I was convinced I had gotten scammed until last week…they showed up in our mailbox! They are kind of ridiculous, but I LOVE them. And now I’m kind of sad that I got them for him and not me, but we both got a kick out of my “I fell for an internet scam” story!
Bill keeps us on our toes in ways that Judy never, ever did. For example, earlier this week, I noticed there was blood marks on my office carpet and I could not, for the life of me, figure out how they had gotten there. Did someone cut their paw? Was Bill’s eye injury split open? I checked (what I thought) was everything. Until I realize the red mess was coming from Bill’s…private parts! BLEH! At some point (we think) he scratched the skin on a bush/stick/grass/something, and then proceeded to gnaw off all the skin until it was raw. NAUGHTY PUP! He got to wear the cone of shame while the antibiotic ointment went to work.
And that is what we’ve been up to! Now tell me – what has been the best part of your week?
