5 Things I Love Friday

Life, Lifestyle · April 12, 2019 · Leave a Comment

TGIF, Friends! I hope you all had a wonderful week. Dane and I are on our way to an outer-island weekend getaway, so be sure to pop over to Instagram to see where we are headed! Today’s edition of 5 Things I Love Friday is nearly all home-decor based, which is just a funny coincidence, since these round-ups typically don’t have any real theme. Over the past two weeks we’ve had some confirmed visitors that will be coming out to visit, so it was time to consolidate our offices and create a proper guest room! Of course, this means we are also finalizing some details in other areas of our rental house to really make it feel like a home. Took us nearly 2 years, but hey! LOL! In any case, let’s dive into this week’s edition of 5 Things I Love Friday…

5 Things I Love Friday

Grey Mid Century Bed – Our home is a bit boho meets mid-century meets the beach. Is that really a style? LOL! I knew I wanted a mid-century bed for our guest room, but the shipping costs always sort left me staggering. Hawaii will get you like that! Thankfully, Wayfair had their annual WAY DAY extravaganza this week and I was able to score a grey mid-century style bed along with a queen mattress for less than $500! I was so pumped and it just makes me more excited to welcome our visitors 🙂

Velvet Wingbacks – Awhile back, I scored two vintage wingback chairs for our home, but they’ve sort of sat in our dining room and not gotten a ton of attention. I love the look of wingback chairs at the heads of dining room tables, so we moved them to either end of our farmhouse table and it has made a world of difference. That said, the fabric on them is pretty worn and admittedly, not what I would have picked. A friend of mine gave me contact information to have them reupholstered and I’m going with a cobalt velvet. I can’t wait to see how they turn out!

Fringed Jute Area Rug – To go underneath out dining room table, I was in need of a rug…badly. The one we had was way too small and the design was just not a great fit for the area. I had been using it in a pinch since I didn’t have another rug for that space and didn’t want it to lose shape rolled up in a closet somewhere. Tell me I’m not the only one who does this?! In any case, when I found this fringe jute rug online last week during a flash sale (WITH FREE SHIPPING TO HAWAII IF YOU CHECK OUT WITH PAYPAL!) I almost crapped my pants. I was so freaking excited. I can’t wait to see how she looks!

Caned Console – Our entryway has been a thorn in my side ever since I hung our grid-style gallery wall. I have just never been in love with the way our console table exposes the wall outlet below it. I know that is SUCH a tiny detail in the grand scheme of things, so I let it go until I found something I really loved. I originally had a deal from an estate sale here in Hawaii on a vintage piece, but that fell through and to be honest, it was above what I really wanted to spend anyhow. Imagine my shock and joy when I found this caned console for a fraction of what I have seen them sell for at other retailers! It should be here next week and I’ll definitely be posting photos.

Jeni’s Dairy Free Ice Cream – A few weeks back, Jeni’s announced they were now making dairy free ice cream and it was like angels singing. I haven’t been able to get my hands on a pint yet, but I am really hoping to get some soon. Have you tried it?

What are you loving this week?
