TGIF, Friends! I hope you all had a wonderful week. Ours was kind of nutty around here, complete with a gnarly burn on my arm courtesy of getting the hot oven door slammed on it. OUCH! Needless to say, I’m pretty excited to see the weekend and to just take it easy for a couple days and make sure I’m changing the bandage on my arm and keeping it clean accordingly ::sigh:: In any case, let’s dive into this week’s edition of 5 Things I Love Friday…it’s a good one!
5 Things I Love Friday
Ko Hana Rum – Have you heard of it? If you’ve been around awhile, you might remember Dane and I touring their distillery and tasting room a few months back. In any case, the amazing team down at Royal Hawaiian invited us to a KoHana tasting event tonight and we’re excited! Friday night is usually our date night down at the docks near our house, but I won’t protest getting all spiffed up for a night out!
Annie The Brave – Have you heard the good news?! My friend Chelsea launched a dress line! And not just any dress line either — one that encourages STEM in little girls! How awesome is that? Chelsea discovered a passion project in Annie the Brave, after her daughter asked for a dress with scientists on it. It became clear that there was limited to no availability in STEM-inspired clothing for girls, so she did what any DIY-fab mom would — she set out to make them! I’m consistently inspired by the incredible women in my circle of friends and Chelsea, I just could scream it from the rooftops — I’m SO STINKING PROUD OF YOU! You can back Annie The Brave on Kickstarter with a dress delivery in time for summer 🙂
Mango Strips – Anyone who has been around here for awhile knows that I’m pretty much a candy connoisseur. The more sour, the better. In any case, since we’ve moved to Hawaii, I have really enjoyed the mango slices with li hing mui. You guys, they’re like natural Sour Patch Kids! I store my big bag in the refrigerator and enjoy them cold, but they’re equally good at room temperature. Stock up on this sweet treat…trust me!
Engineer Prints – You might remember my home decor hack on decorating with engineer prints a couple years ago. Well, I AM BACK AT IT! We have a huge wall in our kitchen that sits bare, because I have never been too sure about what to put there. It turns out, I had forgotten about my little engineer print hack and that is the solution I chose. I ordered them last week and am eager to see them hung up (pics to come, I promise!). I’m hopeful it makes the space feel a bit more home-y and a lot less blank.
Easter weekend – For the first time in a long time, Dane and I have no holiday weekend plans and to be honest….it feels kind of nice. My parents are hosting our family, which is something I’m really sad to miss and Dane’s parents are just settling into their new home in Florida, so it will just be the two of us here on Oahu. We’ve weathered holidays alone before and it’s not the end of the world like I once thought it was. In fact, a quiet holiday is sometimes just as good as one that is jam packed. We will likely find ourselves on a beach enjoying some sunshine with the pups 🙂
What is making you smile this week? Happy Easter weekend, everyone!
