Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend. I’m checking in today with a little dose of life lately via my iPhone. I realized it’s been awhile since I shared what has been going on over here and it was TIME. So, today…nothing fancy! Just a peek at what we’ve been up to via some low-quality snaps from my iPhone from the last few weeks ๐
Life Lately Via My iPhone
We have guests on the books for 2019! My heart is so happy it could burst. Because of this, it was high time we got our guest room together! You might remember that when we sold our house, the new owners bought everything in it! So when we arrived at our current rental, we didn’t really have a ton of furniture. Since it’s just Dane and I, we didn’t make guest room furniture a priority, even though in the back of our minds we knew it would eventually need to happen. That time has come and I’m proud to say this queen sized mid-century inspired piece is ready for guests! The room on the other hand is still a work in progress, LOL!
During one of Judy’s trips to the park, she found this deflated and “skinned” football near the trash can. She was happier than a pig in mud, which is so atypical for her (she doesn’t fetch or play ball like a normal dog), so the fact that this seemingly abandoned toy made her so happy made our hearts swell. She carried it home like it was her puppy and she’s been a wild woman with it in the yard ever since.
Are you on board with What’s Gaby Cooking’s Loaded Hummus? If you’re not, you need to be. It’s LIFE CHANGING. It’s a go-to for our Friday night sunset picnics and even though skinning those chickpeas is a pain in the ass, it’s totally worth it!
I know I shared about these mango strips in Friday’s post, but it’s worth repeating that I can get them in a huge bag at Costco. JACKPOT!
Did you catch my favorite vegetarian Whole30 recipes post? This Tom Kha Gai is in there and it is so freaking good. There is so much flavor and you can easily skip the chicken (or add a whole bunch if you’re not veg!).
I had a girl’s night happy hour a few weeks ago with some of my favorite fellow women who work in Waikiki and I met a few new faces. It was all organized by my friend Marissa and it’s safe to say we need to make this a regular occurrence. We all met up at The Laylow and had a ball sipping and snacking!
The east side of Oahu has some of the prettiest beaches in the world and sometimes I really take that for granted, so we’ve been making an effort for more beach days and this view…Oh baby, it never gets old.
My best friend Allie and her husband Jim were passing through Oahu for their honeymoon and we got to see them for dinner and breakfast while they were here. Dinner and margs at our favorite spot — Buho Cantina — followed by pink pancakes at the Royal Hawaiian the next morning. It felt so good to see them and filled up my love tank a little bit ๐
The weather has gotten so nice here as summer approaches and I’m happy to see the rainy cloudy weather head out (at least until next winter!). I’ve been making a conscious effort to spend about an hour outside each day with the dogs after I come home from exercising. We play ball, they help finish my acai bowl and they get to lounge in the sunshine. It’s a win for all of us!
When we were in Morocco, we stayed at one of the most adorable Kasbahs run by a brother and his sisters. The whole time we stayed there, we were able to enjoy all the homemade jams and preserves and jellies that they make. It was a nice bonus that they happened to be making some and the entire place smelled like strawberries. You can imagine how happy we were when they sent some with us! When we got home, I made my first ever strawberry pie with vegan crust (very annoying, but delicious nonetheless). Dane told me it was the best pie he has ever eaten and honestly — I agree. It was SO GOOD. Thoughts on returning to Morocco solely for fresh preserves?
You know when you’re cleaning out your closets and drawers and you stumble upon something you thought had gotten lost or that maybe you forgot you had? That’s how I feel about these striped capris. They were my favorite FOR YEARS and I had sadly assumed they’d been misplaced in one of our dozen moves. Turns out, I was WRONG! I love them so much and I’m happy to see them return. It helps they’ve got a good bit of compression to them, but are supremely soft and comfortable for both workouts and lounging ๐
Is anyone else’s favorite night of the week clean sheet night? It’s hands-down the best feeling to me. Even better? When a clean sheet night happens to fall on a night I wash my hair and have fresh pajamas. BLISS!
Brushing Judy and Bill’s teeth is such a debacle in this house, but it’s something that needs done, because putting our dogs under anesthesia to have their teeth cleaned is not something we want to do. We’ve been diligent about brushing their teeth, but wrangling them to do so is always such a workout. Can anyone else relate?!
And there you have it – a little bit of what we’ve been up to lately. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend. What have you been up to?
