Since we decorated our house, I’ve gotten quite a few questions about the baskets I have for my plants. Truth be told, the baskets I have are a mishmash from our travels, baskets I’ve been gifted, baskets I’ve found at yard sales, baskets I’ve found at boutiques…you see where this is going. I’m a firm believer in a good basket! HA! Anyway, since I’ve gotten the questions, it got me thinking…are people not using baskets for plants? Baskets are the best way to display plants (in my opinion!) and take an ordinary pot to the next level. In any case, I wanted to put a little post together to help any fellow basket lovers and plant parents. Today I’m sharing the best plant baskets and where to find them 🙂
Best Plant Baskets
You will quickly learn if you visit my house that nothing is above putting a plant in! Heck, I even have a pot of mint growing in a discarded copper pot! That said, there are three main basket groups I gravitate toward when trying to find decorative baskets for my plants — belly baskets, natural baskets and colorful baskets. I also included some hanging basket options at the very end if you’re looking to take your hanging basket game up a notch 😉
Belly Baskets For Plants
Belly baskets are such great decorative pieces and completely versatile. They’re great for storing blankets and dog toys, collecting keys by the front door, hanging on the wall as decor and – you guessed it – holding plants. Here are some of my favorites:
Natural Baskets For Plants
You know me and you know I love color, but sometimes I like a touch of rattan or seagrass to balance things out. Natural baskets are the remedy! I have 5 or 6 huge natural baskets that hold my biggest plants. Here are some of my favorites:
Colorful Baskets For Plants
Okay, I saved the best for last. Truthfully, I have some of my brightest and most colorful baskets from our travels, but that doesn’t mean there is any shortage in stores. Colorful baskets are a great way to ease into color in a room, particularly if decorating with color is scary. I’m a color lover through and through, but I can understand how using it can be intimidating. Start with a basket! Here are some of my favorites:
Hanging Baskets For Plants
Now let’s talk about indoor hanging plants. Personally, I love them, but hanging anything from my ceilings right now would be challenging given some structural constraints of our rental. That said, it doesn’t stop me from looking! While they are not technically baskets, they are a great way to incorporate some design with your plants. Here are some of my favorites:
So let’s chat — do you have plants inside? How do you display them?
