Traveling With American Express Travel Concierge

Around the World, Travel, Travel Tips · May 20, 2019 · Leave a Comment

American Express Travel | If you’ve been around here any length of time, you know that Dane and I are big fans of travel credit cards. The rewards for travel credit cards can’t be beat, and while I know that credit cards aren’t everyone’s jam, they work for us.

One of the perks of our favorite travel credit card, American Express Platinum, is the use of their American Express Travel program. I have recently recommended the American Express Travel program and Concierge to two different people who had the card, but didn’t use or know about the program, so I figured I should write a blog post detailing exactly why we love traveling with American Express Travel Concierge.

Traveling With American Express Travel Concierge

First of all, I should note that the following services are only what I’ve been able to use an American Express Platinum cardholder. I am not sure and can’t speak for any other level of American Express. If you want to sign up for an American Express Platinum card, get 60,000 bonus points by using my link when you spend $5,000 within the first 3 months of use.

Now, let’s dive in to why we love traveling with the American Express Travel Concierge! To note, all of the following services are completely free as a cardholder and that is my absolute favorite price 😉

American Express Travel – Hotels

With our card, we have access to Fine Hotels + Resorts page within American Express’ Travel Concierge and it’s probably my favorite credit card perk. With each hotel, you get early check-in, late check-out, an upgraded room when available, free breakfast for 2 daily, free wifi (I feel like that’s standard these days, but it helps knowing ahead!), and some sort of added resort perk that differs by property. Sometimes it’s a free dinner for two at the hotel’s restaurant and other times it’s something like a $100 hotel credit or free spa treatments.

We booked Riad Fes and La Mamounia through AMEX Fine Hotels + Resorts and used it again to book our anniversary trip this August. It just makes sense since that free breakfast and gratuitous late check-out cannot be beat!

American Express Travel – Dining

This is a perk we didn’t even know about until after we had the card, but it’s a good one and worth mentioning. Who here is a foodie? The Global Dining Collection perk will speak to you, too! With this feature, you can get dining reservations at some of the most prestigious restaurants in the world (think: the restaurants they feature on Netflix’s Chef’s Table!) without the immediate “no” that comes by inquiring yourself.

American Express Travel – The Concierge

Now, here’s where the actual concierge part kicks in…Say you are visiting Las Vegas and want to see Celine Dion, but her show is sold out. Contact the concierge for tickets (and avoid any Ticketmaster fees!). The concierge team at American Express works to make sure that anything you might need while on the road or abroad is handled without you having to take time out of your day to deal with it. Anything from ordering flowers for a friend’s birthday that you remembered mid-flight, booking dinner reservations (you can contact them and say something like “I want a fish restaurant that has outdoor seating” and they’ve got you covered) in a town you’ve never been, letting them take the lead on hotel recommendations and so much more. Think of them as a helpful friend who has been around the world…twice 😉

It’s easy to see why we love traveling with American Express Travel. Do you have the card? Do you take advantage of the perks?
