Today I’m sharing one of the best food items I’ve discovered since moving to Hawaii – smoothie bowls! The first thing I fell in love with in Hawaii was acai bowls and once I got that down, I moved on to other types of fruit-based smoothie bowls. I know it probably sounds silly, but I have been trying to master the perfect smoothie bowl recipe consistency for YEARS. More often than not, I would wind up frustrated with a soupy smoothie bowl and head out to the store to just buy one. Getting the texture down is a lot harder than it seems #realtalk BUT! Today I am sharing a delicious smoothie bowl recipe that is perfect for breakfast, as a snack or honestly – just because. Who is ready to dig into this delicious Strawberry Mango Smoothie Bowl?
Strawberry Mango Smoothie Bowl
This blend of frozen strawberries and mangoes is one of my new favorites! I typically just make smoothie bowls for myself, but I really love the idea of creating a smoothie bar set-up for a party or small get-together. The smoothie bowl base is simple enough to create in bulk and all the toppings are completely customizable, so you really can’t go wrong!
How To Make A Smoothie Bowl
First things first – how do you make a smoothie bowl? Simply put – you can make a smoothie bowl out of anything you want! I actually created this recipe from needing to use up some fruit I had. Fun fact – when I see any fresh fruit starting to go bad, I immediately clean it, chop it and put it in my freezer so I can use it in a smoothie or smoothie bowl somewhere down the line. The secret to consistency with smoothie bowls is frozen fruit and minimal liquid. This means that even fresh fruit will make your smoothie bowl soupy, because of all the water in it, so choose a liquid OR fresh fruit for blending — not both! So, frozen fruit and a high powered blender are MUST HAVES. My Vitamix works wonderfully!
Strawberry Mango Smoothie Bowl
To make this Strawberry Mango Smoothie Bowl at home, you will need:
1-1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
1 cup frozen mango, cubed
1/2 frozen banana
1/4 cup macadamia nut milk (We LOVE Milkadamia + buy it in bulk!)
Toppings: fresh strawberries, mango, coconut, almonds, pineapple, coconut, bananas, granola, honey — anything you want!
1. In your Vitamix (or other high powered blender), add in your frozen fruit, followed by the Milkadamia.
2. Turn to high until completely blended.
3. Pour the mixture into a bowl (you’ll need a long, skinny spatula since it’s kind of thick) and add your favorite toppings.
4. Enjoy immediately 🙂
