TGIF! This was a crazy week for me, but in the best possible way. Does that make sense? Every single day I had an event of some sort after work, which left me no real “down” time. I’m catching my breath today + celebrating my half birthday. Crazy to me that it’s been six months since my surprise birthday in Las Vegas! Anyway, let’s dive in to this week’s edition of 5 Things I Love Friday. It’s a goooooooood one 😉
Oh Hello Alzheimer’s, Fuck – A friend I went to high school with shared this Facebook page the other day and I felt compelled to click. I don’t always fall so heavily into Facebook pages, but this one captivated me immediately. The tagline “Our Alzheimer’s journey, sometimes raw, always tender and real” formed a lump in my throat and the posts left tears running down my cheeks. This page chronicles my friend’s mother as she takes on the role of caregiver to her spouse who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I can’t do the page justice, but I highly recommend clicking and following along. A particularly emotional post about reading is a good start.
Utah – Dane and I are heading to Utah this weekend and I’m so excited for a change of scenery. We will be there for a week with my in-laws, flying into Salt Lake City, heading to Deer Valley, Moab and Arches National Park. If you’ve been, I want to hear all the details!
A Good Quote – I can always count on my friend Chelsea to knock it out of the park with blog posts that really make me think. Sometimes I leave laughing, sometimes I leave crying, but I always leave a better person. This week she shared the quote “”I no longer sit at tables where I will be the topic of conversation when I get up.” WOW – hits you right in the gut right?
New Blog Hosting – Last week, I faced my biggest blogging debacle to date. The quick version — the person I hired to do SEO for my site tinkered a bit too much and crashed the entire thing. David and the team at New Blog Hosting iterally dropped everything and gave me 1:1 service night and day OVER A HOLIDAY WEEKEND. I was getting personalized texts and e-mails letting me know what the latest update was, I would check it on my site, approve it and then their team would move on to fix the next issue. There are still some cosmetic issues to contend with, but I will take those over losing 9 years of content. This was a big lesson for me in who I bring onto my team, but also a shining example of why I continue to renew with New Blog Hosting as my host. If you are in need of a new host, shoot David an email and tell him I sent you!
A big presentation – I shared on Monday over on Twitter that I could use any extra good vibes that anyone might have, because I was sweating bullets for a big presentation. What I didn’t share was that presentation was to a team of professionals in Kenya and…THEY LOVED IT! I was immediately at ease when I could hear the excitement in their responses. Needless to say, I’m really, really excited for what is to come in the second half of this year 🙂
And there you have it! Happy weekend, everyone!
