It’s been a bit since I checked in with a Life Lately style post. Truthfully, we’ve been in a whirlwind, between traveling to Utah, having friends in town and just living life. No complaints here, but definitely ready for a slow down until our trip to the Big Island next month 🙂 In any case, here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to courtesy of my iPhone!
Life Lately Via My iPhone
The other night I could hear Dane yelling outside, so I ran downstairs and out our sliding glass doors to him hovering over the biggest centipede I’ve seen since we moved here. Now, that’s saying A LOT, because I’ve seen a ton and even been bitten by one that was as big as my foot. That’s neither here nor there, because he put this giant weight plate on top of it…AND IT STILL DID NOT DIE. Centipedes are the grossest insects, I swear!
We went to go see “The Lion King” remake and it DID NOT disappoint! We loved it so much and definitely recommend seeing it. The cinematography and musical score are tremendous and I will be shocked if it’s not nominated for awards.
Judy and Bill got a new vet. It’s technically their old vet at a new practice, but new to them all the same. It just so happens to be across the street from a McDonald’s so imagine their delight when, after a terrific visit and clean bill of health, they were treated to plain burgers from McDonald’s. I think their expressions say it all.
I was FaceTiming my mom while my parents were driving back from the beach last week and I just so happened to catch this shot where we have the same exact expression and look EXACTLY THE SAME. Genetics amaze me!
I rarely win anything, but The Katie Show was doing a giveaway for her favorite reusable straw, so I entered. Imagine how delighted I was to find out that I’d won! So far, I love this The Final Straw and it’s super easy to clean, which is the part I was most concerned with!
And speaking of winning things, right after I won this straw, the very next week I won a dozen pastries from my favorite bakery here on Oahu! Life can be funny sometimes, but it put the biggest smile on my face!
As a kid, I would talk to damn near anyone I could, so my mom would wait patiently while I chatted up cashiers, waitresses, random strangers in stores and we’d get in the car and she’d say ‘Kaitlin, you don’t need to talk to EVERYONE’. Thankfully, I married someone who also talks to whoever he meets, which is exactly how we met Yvonne + Pieter — in an elevator at a hotel in Bali in 2016. One passing joke turned into 5 hours at the hotel bar + keeping in touch for the past 3 years as they planned their Hawaiian holiday all the way from Amsterdam. We felt so lucky to welcome them last week to enjoy a few days on Oahu before jetting to Kauai and Hawaii Island.
Last week, I got an issue of Town & Country in the mail and I have no clue why. I have never subscribed to the magazine and I’m not sure how their team got my address, but dang — I’m excited! I read the first issue and I really loved it. Maybe it’s a sign from above that I need to stop with the celebrity gossip magazines 😉
And that’s all I’ve got. What have you been up to lately?
