Hey, hey, happy Thursday! It really feels like this week is going by at warp speed, which is fine by me, because one step closer to a long Labor Day weekend. Anyone else feeling a bit of the same? Coming back to a short week after a deliciously long weekend away and cruising into another long weekend is the perfect summer sendoff. Not that there really is such a thing here in Hawaii – ha! In any case, I wanted to pop in with a little dose of life lately. As always, all pics are super high quality iPhone snaps that capture the love, laughs and life we’ve been living ๐

Are you wearing Bombas yet? If not….WHY?! I have an entire blog post coming about why Bombas are worth the hype (and every single penny!), but for now, just trust me when I say they are the best socks you’ll ever put on. I wore Thorlos for years and these blow them out of the water.
I shared this photo on Instagram and everyone kept saying “I love how she’s looking at you!” The truth is, we joke a lot about Judy being judgy, but sometimes she gets in really loving and playful moods (particularly with Dane and I), so being able to capture this look on camera is a milestone! Love this sweet girl.
A friend of ours left on deployment and before he packed out of here, his wife had a little surprise party on a local rooftop bar (Hideout at Laylow if you’re local!). It was a wonderful evening and the sunset could not have been more perfect. Plus, our party recipient was totally shocked! #win
How cute is this Dole Whip in a shaka cone? We picked it up at the Royal Hawaiian Center food court. Definitely recommend it for some delicious dessert options, plus you can get Dole Whip there which is always a good option in my book ๐
We just transferred vets here on the island and Judy had to go in to get her initial exam out of the way. As it turns out, she also had a UTI (bless her), so Dane took her on his way to work one morning. He sent me this snap of that sweet face waiting on the doctor.
Alright, here is my unpopular opinion of the season: I didn’t like “Where The Crawdads Sing”. There, I said it. Honestly, I blame the extreme hype surrounding this book, because otherwise I may have just shrugged my shoulders and moved on, but people would not let me rest until I read this one. I dove in and the entire first half is slooooooow. The writing is excellent, but it’s an unnecessary amount of backstory before anything really picks up and I just kept waiting for something to happen. Spoiler alert: Nothing ever happens and then it just…ends. Anyway, good thing there are lots of different genres so all book lovers can be happy ๐
Ever hear about a company whose mission just grabs ya? That’s how I felt when the sisters at Tiny and Snail reached out to me about their launch of the Keep Dancing collection that debuted earlier this month. Tiny and Snail is a stationery company with the cutest designs that was launched by two sisters in 2017. One year ago, Leah was crushed under a large piece of equipment at her job and paralyzed from the armpits down. Miraculously, she was still able to have use of her hands to illustrate! This new collection celebrates dancing in the rain, the triumph after hardship and celebrating the brutal, beautiful journey of life. Leah + Grace agreed to give my friends a discount so head over + use ‘HANSON15’ on any orders you place!
It’s always kind of a full circle moment when blogging friends that you’ve known for years suddenly move to Hawaii. That’s how I felt when Max not only moved to the island, but decided to live pretty close to us! We dove right in with dinner and drinks at one of my favorite places (Buho Cantina) and a few days later, a hike up Makapuu.
I could go on and on, but truly, Dane and I have been savoring these last few weeks of calm before the storm of fall travel, which starts next week for me. Lots of life in between these photos that isn’t always documented, but not any less sweet. What have you been up to lately?
