Considering a pair of adult Native Shoes? Here is my honest opinion of the popular shoe brand, Native, and if I recommend their shoes for adults.
I feel like this post has been a long time coming, because I’ve had my Native Shoes for about two years now! My Native Jefferson slip-on sneakers have been all over the world — French Polynesia, Europe and Africa — as well as all over the U.S. and these waterproof shoes look just as good as the day I bought them.
Native Shoes grew to popularity as a good shoe for kids, but I’m here to tell you that they’re just as good for adults. Whenever I wear them, I get at least one person asking about them, so I figured it was time to do a full rundown in an official Native Jefferson shoes review! And be sure to read all the way to the end for a FULL 2024 UPDATE!
My Honest Native Shoes Review
What is a Native shoe?
For anyone who isn’t familiar, Native is a company that makes shoes for the entire family — men, women and children — and gained recognition for their Jefferson sneaker. If the Jefferson style isn’t your thing, they make a ton of other styles that I recommend checking out. I’ve tried on the flats and they are just as comfy.
By 2023, the company vows their product process will me 100% life cycle managed, which is amazing! They’re doing this by recycling well-loved Native Shoes by giving them new life in projects across the community like playgrounds.

So why do I love these sneakers?
My Native slip-ons are vegan, light weight, shock absorbent, odor resistant, easy to clean, and come in an infinite assortment of colors. I bought them in white, so that I could wear them with any number of outfits. If you are familiar with the material of Crocs, that is how they feel.
To clean them I have used a magic eraser and thrown them in the top row of my dishwasher. I’ve also just hosed them off with a hose in my yard for a quick clean and they still look just as good as the day I bought them.
The #1 question I get is if my feet sweat a lot in them and the answer is not anymore than usual. There are holes in them, which allow my feet to breathe, so the minimal amount of sweat that does happen doesn’t stick out to me. Also — NO SMELLING! I would tell ya, and I promise. They don’t stink!
To top it off, they are supremely comfortable, all while being feather light. I’ve worn them for full days of walking with no blisters and my knees/back/legs feel great. To me, they’re a no-brainer travel shoe for this reason coupled with the cleaning detail.
And because I know everyone is curious — they’re only $45 for adults! BONUS…sometimes less depending on your size, though sometimes a little more (prints). I’ve also had my eyes on this shimmery pair for awhile, but can’t justify it when my white ones still look so good!
If you can’t tell, I really do love these shoes and have gotten my money’s worth…and then some! I would 100% buy them over again and if this pair ever wears out, I’ll be donating them and buying another. As of 2024, I have worn these Native sneakers over and over again (still the same white pair) and they look/feel just as good as the day I got them. I have definitely gotten my money’s worth and would happily purchase them again — and will, if these ever wear out 😉
So what do you think? Are Native shoes for you, or a hard pass? I know they’re popular with kids, but I just have to say…I think they’re amazing for adults, too.
