Dressing Room Diaries: Athleta

Fashion · October 6, 2019 · Leave a Comment

And we are…back! More specifically, back in the Athleta dressing room I’m totally spoiled when I come to my parents’ house, because they have the luxury of an Athleta store. DREAMS! My mom turned me on to this athletic and athleisure-wear brand a few years back and it was love at first sight. I think Athleta is the brand that made me fall head-over-heels for the athleisure look, but I could be wrong. Anyway, Athleta is always one of the first stops I make when making my shopping rounds in Pennsylvania of stores we don’t have in Hawaii! I don’t do Dressing Room Diaries posts as much as I used to (just really not shopping as much anymore as a whole), but I always make an exception for this B-Corp brand 🙂

Dressing Room Diaries: Athleta

I love shopping at Athleta in PA, because my mom knows all the ladies in there, so they give me the inside scoop on pieces that are favorites, popular picks and pieces that might not look the best, even though I have visions in my head after seeing them online. They also show me pieces I would NEVER pick out for myself, but wind up being fabulous, which is what most of these picks are today!

Revive Pant – I have talked about these before, but it bears repeating. My mom has been raving about these pants all fall and I’ll be honest I thought to myself “Cute for her, not for me”. And then she had them on when she picked me up from the airport and I was like…I LOVE THOSE!

Athleta Revive Pants

Turns out, they are pants you absolutely have to see on to really get a feel for them, because they are not something I would have ever picked out for myself. They are comfortable, have pockets and are a really smooth material that doesn’t make you look bulky, even though the pants are a looser fit. I am wearing them in a size 4. Verdict? Bought them!

Conscious Crop – Like the Revive Pants, when I first saw this I thought “I’m not built for a crop top”. Then again — I saw my mom wearing hers and I was like..wow, that’s SO cute. Again, I never thought I’d pair it with the Revive Pant (mentioned above), but that’s how I saw her wearing it and I’ll be darned — I ended up wearing it to dinner one night.

The fit is true to size (I’m wearing a small) and the bra part fits tight, while the material stretches down a bit to cover more of your torso. It’s WAY more flattering than it looks. Verdict? ABSOLUTELY GET THIS! In fact, I bought it in black and will likely buy another. It would be a nice high neck bra for sweaters in the fall or winter too 🙂

Aura Split In Powervita – Okay so these are pants I would have never tried on on my own. In fact, when my mom’s friend recommend I try them on I thought I would just appease her, because I didn’t think there was any way they would look good on my muscular (not super skinny) legs. Consider my mind blown…

Let’s start with the fact that they are super high rise (they come just slightly below my chest), creating a seamless silhouette on your torso. The fabric is the same as my favorite Elation tights, which is buttery soft if you have never felt them. Like the Elation, there is also no side seam, which is, again, really flattering. They fit pretty true to size (I’m wearing a small) and I could see these being a flattering pant for fitness, errands, or even with a chambray button down or oversized sweater. Verdict? I got them!

Speedlight Tee – This shirt was calling my name from the website, because I love all the colors it comes in and it looked to be a good option for Hawaii with the breathability. It’s a really comfortable shirt, but it’s important to note that I thought it ran a bit small. I tried it on in a medium and I thought it fit well, but my normal Athleta size for tops is a small, so take that into account if ordering online. It’s a slimmer fit and has a rubber band on the inside of the bottom seam to keep it down/in place while moving. I think it would be great for workouts!

Verdict? It stayed at the store. To be fair, I would have bought it if I wasn’t already purchasing the other 3 items in my dressing room, LOL!
