It seems like life has been going a million miles per hour after we enjoy a slow and wonderful summer. I like both speeds, but sometimes that faster pace makes it hard for me to pop in with life updates as often as I’d like. Today I’m sharing a little bit of Life Lately via my iPhone, which includes a little bit of everything here in Hawaii, as well as our trip to PA. It’s a big one with lots of photos, so if you’ve been wondering what has been happening behind the scenes, today’s post is for you.
It’s worth noting that I also hope to look back on these posts one day to remember what day-to-day life was like for us during this season of our lives, so I fully grasp that maybe not every detail I share is noteworthy for everyone 😉
Life Lately Via My iPhone
After our trip to Penn State, my parents hosted my aunt, uncle and cousins over for a pizza night. Per usual, the food was insane (Rustic Pizza Party + Pizza Recipe Ideas) and it felt good to be in the company of family. Growing up, we got together regularly and now that we are all spread across the country it’s always a bit more tricky.
One perk of being home was getting to spend time with my grandma. She’s just as spunky as I remembered, but every time I see her, she’s just a little bit older and that is heartbreaking. One really big downside of living so far away is not getting to spend precious time with my family. I’m grateful for the time I do spend, but it’s never enough.
My parents are all-star chefs. Seriously — so good. Even simple weeknight meals like the grilled shrimp and cauliflower you see below are out-of-this-world delicious. It always inspires me to branch out of the cooking I normally do at home and try new things.
This meme was posted by a friend of mine and it really resonated. Anyone else?
If you couldn’t tell from all my photos or posts, being home in Pennsylvania really resonated into my soul this year. To be fair, I think it does every year, but we are really at a point where we are ready for the next chapter and to be somewhere closer to “home”. Enjoying the simple moments at my parent’s house just felt so good and was the boost my mental health needed. Lots of time spent enjoying their outdoor setup, good food and of course — peanut butter s’mores.
Lest you think my life is all glamour, this is so typical of my flying adventures. The last row and by a bathroom. I wish I could tell you I ended up having a row to myself, but I didn’t. I also left my Hydro Flask behind by accident and the airline lost my luggage. I’m grateful for the ability to be able to travel, but please don’t think it’s all fun and games.
After we got back, Dane and I got invited to the Royal Hawaiian to enjoy their trademark Pink Palace Pancakes. They are truly a breakfast delight if you ever have the chance to go enjoy them! They’re definitely a sweet treat, but they are naturally colored, so no dyes to achieve the rosy hue, which is nice. The views from the table aren’t bad either 😉
The sky has been UNREAL this past week. I feel like every single morning and night, Mother Nature pulls out the big guns for a watercolor show. No complaints here. Dane snapped this photo from our yard this week when he was letting the dogs out one morning.
And there you have it! Just a little snippet of life lately and what we’ve been up to. How about you?
