I’m so excited to be linking up with Anne for her monthly Currently series! If you have absolutely no clue what I’m talking about, pop over to her site and take a peek around — you WILL NOT be disappointed I love, love, love this series and today I’m joining her and some of the fabulous faces who frequent her internet space for this month’s Currently, which covers what I’m currently picking, preparing, trying, feeling, and following. This month’s edition is pretty special since I’m dialing in from Kenya, so consider this my ‘Currently: Kenya Edition” 🙂
Currently
Picking
My nose (with a tissue of course). Look, I know that sounds gross, but this climate (and dust) is wreaking havoc on my sinuses and anyone who has been on safari might be able to commiserate. Thankfully, I came well-supplied with a solid saline spray and am hoping to avoid any and all bloody nose debacles. Hey, just being honest, right?
Preparing
To recreate Dawas back home. Have you had this Kenyan cocktail before? It’s a refreshing one that combines lime, sugar, honey and vodka. Those ingredients sound simple (I know), but the taste is equal parts sour/tang and sweet. Kind of like drinking a Sour Patch Kid (my favorite!). The one pictured was a passionfruit varietal that we both LOVED!
Trying
To stay on track with fitness. I am doing Glow Body PT’s workouts that are free on YouTube since they are super travel-friendly and don’t require you to have many (if any) fitness accessories. For the ones that require a small weight, I’ve been using water bottles. Improvisation right?
Feeling
In love all over again. I have said it ever since our first trip to Kenya, but I am positively head over heels for this magical country. The people are some of the friendliest I have ever encountered the world over, the serenity of nature is all-encompassing and there is a sense of happiness here that just radiates.
Following
The animals! One of the delights of safari is never knowing what you might see during a game drive and this trip has been no exception. We are only a couple days into Bush life (being outside of the city in national parks) and have already spotted quite a few of our favorite animals. I hope the next couple weeks are just as thrilling!
